03.31.10 – Last day of March!

Quick post this morning since I’m taking the girls to school. I got in my cardio and burned a little over 400 calories. I’m planning on a walk later on this morning for another 100-300, depending on how I feel.

Breakfast was cocoa oats! Yummy! I could eat 2x as much as I do, but I KNOW I don’t need it! 🙂

The scale this morning said 159.6#! I’m slowly but surely heading towards my goal of 150ish. I’d ideally like 148, but I’m happy to see a 5 on the scale nonetheless. My ‘goal’ for April is to weigh myself every day, regardless of if I mess-up or not.

I got the girls dropped off at school and headed to Pierce’s. I got our Easter ham and a few other things. One thing I found on sale was sugar-free Peeps! 20 calories each and I can’t OD on them since they cause ‘intestinal discomfort’! LOL  After shopping I snacked on a golden delicious apple and then headed into Walgreens. I didn’t find anything worth purchasing so I left to return some books and DVDs to the library. I had a DVD overdue by 3 days so I was facing a $3 fine. Low and behold it’s from another library and it’s only 15¢! It’s my lucky day! I just finished snacking on a pear and I’m going to head out for a walk. I’m just going to go in my neighborhood since it’s still pretty windy and the levee would just be awful.

My walk was great, I even did a bit of jogging to get my heart rate up. I burned another 206 calories for a total of 613 for today. I’m not walking for exercise tonight, instead DD#1 wants to walk with me and DD#2 wants to ride her bike. So we’ll take a family stroll.

After my walk I quickly cleaned up one of my flower beds out front. It looks so nice now and so many of the flowers are starting to push up through the soil. I have crocus up already and I saw my tulips, sedum and chives starting to come up. I still have 4 more flower beds to clean up along with the front of the house. I may do more today and tomorrow for sure.

Then I decided I needed to get the plastic off the rest of the windows in the house and put screens back on. That was a dusty and dirty job, but now I have the windows open and the house is airing out. Lovely!

Then I was StArViNg for lunch! I had a familiar standby, toasted pitas, veggies and hummus. I did have some butternut squash for dessert.

This afternoon I cleaned out 2 more flower beds, so I have 2 more to go. I had popcorn for a snack this afternoon too.

Supper was leftover turkey burgers, green beans and sweet potato chips. Yummy!

After supper we went for a family walk. It was a nice time together even if DD#2 couldn’t ride her bike the whole way. 🙂

I ended the day at 1918 calories and I burned 613 calories with exercise.

03.30.10 – Tone-up Tuesday!

Morning! I’ve been busy already today. I dug out my Easter things and got baskets and eggs ready for the girls. I also found some cute easter window-clings that I had. I should have gotten things out sooner, but I just never got around to it.

I got in some exercise this morning. 15 minutes of elliptical followed by 30 minutes of strength training. I figured after yesterday’s calorie burn of 700+ I could go a bit easier today, I burned 203 calories and I plan on a walk tonight.

Breakfast was cocoa oats! Yummy!

I’m sipping on my cocoa/mocha cappuccino right now since my stomach was grumbling! I’ll have another snack before I head out to volunteer at school.

My snack was yogurt and frozen fruit along with some wheat germ.

I had a nice time a DD#1’s classroom today.  I didn’t get there as soon as I wanted to so the time flew by with the things her teacher had for me.

Lunch was spinach shirataki, 3 oz. lean turkey, mushrooms, onions, peppers, artichokes, garlic and 1 t. olive oil. I did have one piece of garlic toast on the side. It’s funny, when I counted points on Weight Watchers I would always have TWO pieces since it was ONLY 1 point! Now that I am counting calories I feel the freedom to just have one. 🙂

After lunch I made DD#1’s snack for tomorrow. It’s her turn to bring in the treat and she chose homemade granola! I LOVE LOVE LOVE homemade granola and it’s been torture to smell it! It’s a good thing it ALL has to get baggied up for her classmates.

Snacks today were popcorn and a gourmet lollipop. 🙂

Supper was tilapia, baked red potato, carrots and milk. For some reason supper tasted really good to me tonight.

After supper I went for a nice 40 minute walk in the hurricane (aka: wind!). Towards the end I just took out my headphones since I couldn’t hear them anyway.

I did have some snacks tonight during Biggest Loser. I always find it ironic that I snack during a weight loss show! LOL Anyway, here’s a first for me. A PHOTO of my trail mix. Well, it’s not a true trail mix since it’s only 2 cereals and a small box of raisins, but here it is:

It also helps that it’s in one of my kid’s bowls, so it looks like more.

I ended my day at 1957 calories and I burned 365 through exercise. It’s a bit more calories than the past 2 days, but this lovely trail mix threw me over the edge. I DID enjoy it though.

I’m not sure what tomorrow will bring. I AM going to exercise in the morning, but I don’t know if I’m going to go to Zumba or walk on the levee in town. My lovely friend is taking my daughter and the girl I watch to her house for a playdate, so I have a lot more ‘free’ time than normal. I’m trying to figure out how to best use it. 🙂

03.29.10 – Mighty Monday!

Morning all! It’s chilly out there this morning, but I’m hopeful for the highs in the 50’s today.

I slept pretty restless last night. I was up every 2 hours or so to go to the bathroom and then I had a hard time getting to sleep. In the middle of the night DD#1 came in to present me with her tooth! She finally lost her other top front tooth. It’s been dangling for a long time now. LOL

I got up BEFORE my alarm, I told you I was restless. I got in 50 min. of cardio and 10 min. of strength. I burned an even 400 calories. I have Zumba this morning too. I haven’t been in about 2 weeks now and I’m really looking forward to it, I’m only hoping it isn’t packed with people.

Breakfast was pretty much a repeat of yesterday, except I upped the amount of carrots in it. (I also remembered to take a photo!)

Otherwise today is just a pretty ho-hum day. I am trying a new turkey burger recipe for supper tonight which I hope lives up to my expectations.

This morning before Zumba I had a green monster! I’ve been seeing these on other people’s blogs and I’ve had one before, but I was diggin’ it today!

I contained:

  • 1/2 c. yogurt
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • banana (49 g)
  • strawberries (61g)
  • spinach (40 g)
  • 1 pkg. truvia
  • 1 c. crushed ice

I’ll definately be having these more often, especially since the weather is going to warm up.

Zumba was super crazy today! She had me sweating and huffing and puffing like crazy. Finally, towards the end, she put on a more mellow song. It was quite the way to start my week. 🙂

Lunch was something I’ve enjoyed before, with a little variation.

I had the new PastaSlim Spinach Fettucine, like Tofu Shirataki. I think I liked these better, they were less chewy and more flavorful with the spinach. I sauteed some garlic in 1 t. olive oil and added in my peppers, mushrooms, onions and various spices. Towards the end I added in 1/2 pkg. of the noodles and one Sonoma Jack Pepperjack Cheese wedge. It was yummy! Dessert was some butternut squash and 1 t. brown sugar.

So, my thoughts on Sonoma Jack are, it tasted good. HOWEVER, there are only 6 wedges, not 8 like Laughing Cow. While it was cheaper I’m not sure now based on the amount of wedges. I’ll have to check that out the next time I get to Woodman’s.

Afternoon snack was popcorn.

Supper was good, and again I didn’t take a photo until I was in the process of eating it!

It was turkey burgers, homemade fries, peas and milk. The recipe was pretty good, but it was too mushy to put on the grill. The next time I make it I’ll lessen the wet ingredients.

I did go for a short walk after supper tonight and then snacked on an orange.

My total calories for the day are 1616 and I burned 710 calories through exercise.

03.28.10 – I’m back!

Good morning all! Today is day 1 of being on track with my life. Of course I FORGOT to take a picture of my breakfast. Even though the camera was on the counter. I had oatmeal and it contained:

  • 1/2 c. quick-cooking oats
  • 50 grams of grated carrots
  • 4 grams of sf cook-n-serve vanilla pudding
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 T. wheat germ
  • 1/2 T. flax seed
  • 1 T. caramel sf davinci syrup
  • 1 pkt. truvia
  • 1 t. cinnamon

My new find this weekend at Woodman’s was the sugar-free caramel Davinci syrup. It was on sale and a lot cheaper than Toriani and they of course had a ton more flavors to choose from.

I slept in a bit this morning, WITH my youngest! Do you want to know why? DH and DD#1 slept outside in our tent last night. DD#2 can NOT sleep alone so she was stoked to sleep with mom! It was okay except she had to have one body part constantly touching me. 🙂

I got up at surfed the web a bit before I worked out. I got in 45 min. on the elliptical and another 20 minutes of abs, legs and arms. I burned 412 calories in the process and I was a sweaty mess afterwards. I decided to give my bathroom a quick cleaning before I showered so I have one to-do off of my list for today!

My morning snack was yogurt and frozen fruit.

I’m also trying a new flavor of cappuccino I found at Woodman’s. It’s double mocha sugar-free. It’s okay, I guess I was hoping for more. I think it would be delicious blended with some ice in the blender to make a mocha frappuccino.

So instead of eating myself into oblivion this morning I accomplished some household tasks. I got my bedroom, the girls’ bedroom and the living room picked up. I rearranged the furniture with the help of DH and the kids ‘supervised’. I did a bit of mommy-ranting this morning to get the girls to help pickup, I had to use the “I’ll get the garbage can!” languange on them. That seemed to help a bit.

I remembered to take a photo of my lunch after I was 1/2 way through it!

It was:

  • flatout wrap
  • hummus
  • tuna
  • peppers
  • tomatoes
  • romaine lettuce
  • with a side of beets

My afternoon snack was popcorn, which I didn’t photo, but we all know what popcorn looks like!

Here’s supper!

It was 1/2 baked sweet potato, which was super sweet and delicious! Turkey meatloaf and corn. I did have some skim milk to go with it.

I’m around 1500 calories for the day and I got in 412 calories burned through exercise. I really wish it was a tad warmer out and less windy so I could have gone for a walk. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow, but by the end of the week I’ll have NO excuse since it’ll be in the 70’s!

03.27.10 – I’ll be back!

Hello all!

Tomorrow I will be back into the blogging world.  I’ve been messing around with losing 10-12# for 3 months! Insanity on my part! So, I’m coming back tomorrow with photos of my food (hopefully I remember to start doing this again!), thoughts on my life and just a general ‘what’s-happening’ with me.

I’m getting serious with Sparkspeople and my exercise (not that I’ve slacked on that). I have a general calorie goal of 1200-1500 or so per day, along with burning a bunch of calories through cardio, strength training, yoga, zumba and walking.

As for weighing in, I haven’t decided if I’ll be brave tomorrow or not. Sometimes that number just messes with my head, so I may wait a bit before I tackle the scale. For now it’s important for me to get my eating under control and start to feel strong and fit again.

03.22.10 – To blog or not to blog….

Afternoon all! Well, you’ve probably noticed a haitus on my part. As of last Wednesday I started tracking my calories with Sparkspeople. It was a wonderful decision! I definately needed a change in my life and I think shooting for 1400-1800 calories a day is realistic for me. Have I been perfect at it? Nope, but I’m okay with that. I makes me mindful of my choices in food and I’ve even felt a little less restricted in my options.

Will I keep blogging? I don’t know. Right now I’m just trying to get myself back in control, focusing on me and my issues and not being a food nazi! 🙂 I like the feeling.

I have been keeping up my activity though, which is great. Last week I managed to burn over 3000 calories according to my HRM. It’s been a long time since I’ve been over 2400 in a week. I know it’s the additional walking I’ve been doing at night since the weather was so wonderful last week.

So I think as I get the hang of things more on my end I’ll blog more often. I may just use this as an outlet for what is going on in my life in general. Who knows where this will take me.

03.15.10 – Monday on Track

Afternoon all! Well, I did great all day yesterday until after supper. My cravings were hitting, my mood was crabby, PMS is looming and I gave into my carb addiction. Cereal, cereal & more cereal! I felt awful I could hardly sleep last night. So, what to do?

I got up early, worked out for 55 minutes to earn 4 APs. Then I attended Yoga to recenter myself and then off to Zumba to reenergize myself! I’ve just finished lunch and my evil side says “have more cereal”. My smart side says “No, just sip on a cocoa/capp and move on.” So I’m listening to my smart side since it’s my evil side that put me in this situation.

Here’s my eats for the day so far: cocoa oats, pear, apple, crab salad, hummus bagel and cocoa/capp.

One thing I am excited about is being able to walk after supper. With the time change it buys me a little extra daylight at night so I’m going to resume my walking for 30-60 minutes. That should keep me out of the kitchen for a bit! 🙂

Afternoon snacks were popcorn and some grapes. It’s 3:45pm and so far I’ve managed to avoid the Binge Monster. That’s what I like to call it anyway. I’m going to go for a walk after my friend comes to pick-up her kids. DH can reheat supper for himself and the girls and I’ll eat when I get home.

03.14.10 – Spring Forward!

Good morning all! I like the time change since it’ll be lighter now after supper. Which means I can start my walking again! 🙂

This morning I ‘slept in’ and chose to take the morning off. I am going to go for a walk this afternoon to take advantage of the nice weather. Tomorrow I’ll be back at ’em earning 4-6 APs. Sometimes my body just needs rest.

Breakfast was cocoa oats, delicious! I think it’s my new oatmeal flavor. I’m sipping on a cocoa/capp now. It’s almost 11am so I’m going to hold off on a snack and just start my lunch a bit before noon. I’m having a repeat of earlier in the week, my pasta with sauteed veggies and spinach. It was sooo good.

There is nothing on the agenda for today except relaxation. I got my misc. shopping done this morning and I suppose there are a few things to clean up before the new week starts. It’s Spring Break and the girls don’t have school next week, but I still have yoga and zumba so they don’t get to sleep in all week. I’m trying to think of something fun to do with them on Friday since it’ll just be the 3 of us all day, but I haven’t come up with anything yet.

03.13.10 – Slow Going Saturday

Well, I didn’t get to bed until after 10pm! Waaaayyy past my bedtime! 🙂 I slept until 5:30am and decided I didn’t need to do a morning workout today. I’ll more than likely do some strength training later on today, but I’m not ‘making’ myself do anything. I did hop on the scale this morning, as I have been for a few days now, and it said 161. I’m getting sooo close to seeing the 150’s again and I’m super motivated by that.

We actually have nothing planned for today. We could go to the library at 10:30am for a kid’s storytime, but I haven’t mentioned anything to the kids. Otherwise it’s just a drizzly, cloudy day here with no chance for a nice walk outside. I’m hoping tomorrow’s weather is a bit more cooperative.

We went to the library and of course the girls had a good time. They didn’t want to participate much, but they did do the crafts. I found a few books to read, I’m hoping at least one is interesting.

Lunch was a salad, which I haven’t had in a while. Then I munched on some carrots while my bagel thin was toasting.

DH just left with the girls to rent some videos since there wasn’t anything great at the library.

I’m waiting for my lunch to settle some more before I head downstairs for some strength training.

Supper was one of my favorites! It’s so wonderful I forgot to take a picture of my bowl since I just dove right in. I had beef barley stew along with 2 homemade cornbread muffins! Delicious! I seriously could have eaten the whole pot!

I did go downstairs and do some strength training. Mostly legs and arms, I’ll hit the abs in the morning.  I earned 2 APs.

The evening ended with watching Where the Wild Things Are. Bizarre movie. I do NOT recommend it.

03.12.10 – Shake it ’til you break it!

Blech…I lost my whole post! So I’ll try again.

This morning I earned 3 APs. I tried something different with my workout. I did Level 9 of the interval program on my treadmill. Then I did 15 min. on the elliptical, at which time DD#1 woke up and came downstairs to visit me! 5AM! Anyway, we watched Family Fued together. 🙂 Then I did 10 minutes of abs at which time she proclaimed she was starving! I stopped my workout and made her scrambled eggs and tortillas. Then it was back downstairs for another 10 min. on the elliptical. I know I’ll burn a few calories at the Zumbathon tonight!

Breakfast was oatmeal and I’m sipping on cocoa/capp right now. When my stash is gone I’m going to be done with this concoction until fall. I’ll need something new to try. Hmm….

Well, it’s only laundry happening around here this morning. DD#2 is playing nicely with her friend with the doll house that DH built.

All the laundry is done and put away! That in itself is a workout!

Lunch was delicious! I made 2 oz. of my light penne. I sauteed garlic in olive oil, added in onions and peppers, some diced up fresh tomato and finally some spinach. I used italian seasoning, garlic powder and onion powder. I then toasted up a light hot dog bun and warmed up a can of beets. I will definately do this pasta again!

We are going to head out to the store(s) soon. I have a short list of things to get and I think I’m going to go to the Dollar Tree to get stickers for DD#1’s class. The teacher made a comment that she’s running low and had to order some. Well, I know they have great stickers at the Dollar Tree so I’m going to pick some up.

CONFESSION TIME! – I’m currently sipping on a Diet Mt. Dew, the elixer of the Gods! So even though that challenge was a FAIL, I’ll continue on with my food challenges. I guess I’ve never binged on diet soda before! LOL Raisins and cereal? That’s another story.

I had ‘supper’ at 4pm since the Zumbathon starts at 6:30pm and I don’t want to be stuffed. It was a veggie burger and cheese with some leftover veggies.

The Zumbathon was great! It was loud and high energy! I was definately working up a sweat. I figured we danced for an hour and 45 minutes and I burned around 5oo calories!

Afterwards I was starving! I felt a little off, like I got too hungry. So I had a few snacks when I got home.

I ended the day at 24 DPs and I earned a total of 8 APs.
