05.31.10 – Honor someone today.

Happy Memorial Day! I’m sure most of you are enjoying a day off from work. Remember to acknowledge why you aren’t working today. ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, dun, dun, dun, the scale was awful. That’s because I was eating awfully yesterday. I won’t even go into it, but it was self-sabotage all the way. I googled self-sabotage last night and found a very enlightening article. It basically states that sabotage has to do with self-concept and self-image. If I think of myself as a overweight person I’ll behave that way. Instead I have to focus on changing those thoughts to being a healthy an active person and behave THAT way. It’s a hard row to hoe for me. Baby steps.

However, I will choose to celebrate that I am .8# lighter than LAST Monday. I know by tomorrow that my weight will go down even more since my body loves to hold onto sodium, and well, I love sodium!

This coming week is going to prove pretty busy for me and I like that! It seems when I’m idle I make bad decisions. Here are a few things I have going on (mostly for my own knowledge)…

  • get new books from library
  • bake a ton of cupcakes for DD#2’s graduation
  • sign up kids for summer reading program at the library
  • attend DD#2’s preschool graduation
  • work at DD#1’s school carnival
  • run a 5k!
  • relax
  • enjoy myself and life
  • yoga

Today has been good. It’s felt like a Sunday to me, but without the bingeing! ๐Ÿ˜› I’ve been on track with food and activity today. I did my morning workout and a 30 minute walk after supper. I earned 4 APs today. I also did a little bit of outside work in the yard and gardens. My eating has been in control and I’m back to making wise choices. I’ll end my day at 25 or 26 points.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow for a few reasons.

  • It’s June!
  • It’s the 1st day of a new month!
  • The kids go back to school
  • I get a few hours to myself in the morning
  • I get new books to read from the library
  • I have new goals to accomplish

05.30.10 – 1,000 Hits!?

Wow, I checked out my hits this morning and it’s an even 1000! Amazing.

Well, Sunday is my unofficial day-of-rest. I still got up around 5am, but hopped on the computer instead of the treadmill. ๐Ÿ™‚ While I won’t do formal exercise today I will be weeding, watering and washing the walls on my porch. I also did not weigh-in this morning as you can see by my weigh-in tab. Tomorrow is my comparison weigh-in day. Meaning, I go by each Monday’s WI to see what I lost for the previous week even though I WI most days.

DH put in the 4 windows yesterday and it went pretty smoothly. I just have to goo-gone some of the tape left behind on the glass. It’s probably very fortunate that we didn’t get all the windows. A kingbird built a nest in our porch and has 4 babies! 2 of which have hatched, the girls find them fascinating! Since the other windows will be 2-3 weeks yet the babies will have flown the nest around then. DH and the girls looked itย up on the internet and they take 2-3 weeks to fly. I’d hate to try to relocate them, only for them to die.

So here’s an update on counting points. The weekends are always hard for me, call it mentally hard. Anyway, I get 24 daily points (DP)ย per day along with the 35 weekly points allowance (WPA) and I could use any activity points (APs)ย I earned. Today, being Sunday, is my last day of my week. I have used ALL 35 WPA and I’ve had to dip into 2 APs. I’ve earned 27 APs this week! That’s pretty good since my average is 23 or so.

So what’s the plan for today? I have most of my food mapped out for the day. We are having our Memorial Day meal tonight. Basically I’m making chicken and veggie kabobs and sweet corn for dinner tonight. That’s the extent of our grilling out. No crazy desserts, no slabs of beef, no potato salad. In fact, it’s a sensible dinner and nothing out of the ordinary for us.

My other plans are:

  • Weeding
  • Miracle-gro the flowers and plants
  • Scrubbing porch walls
  • Goo-gone ing windows
  • ?

Let’s see. I accomplished most things on my to-do list. Including eating lots of junk and ice cream! Whoops! Not quite on plan, but it’s okay. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

05.29.10 – Sunsational Saturday!

Well, I tried posting earlier, but I see it didn’t take. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I slept in until 5:30am! Woohoo (sarcasm here). I can never really sleep in anyway. I did an easier workout of 30 minutes on the elliptical and 10 minutes of abs. I knew I’d be running on the levee later on this morning and didn’t want to kill myself.

DH picked up our windows from Home Depot this morning. Rather, he got 4 out of 7! They messed up the order and then a couple of windows were damaged. Oh well, he’s putting in the ones we got anyway.

When he returned home I went for my run on the levee. It was going to be 3 miles, but I cut it down to 2. I started at the 2.5 mile marker, left my water bottle there and ran to the 2 mile marker and turned around. I did that 2 times, but I intended to do 3, it was just too hot and I wasn’t feeling it. I did very well though, it went like this…

  • Mile 1 – 9:44
  • Mile 2 – 9:22

I got faster in my 2nd mile, so who knows how the 3rd mile would have went? I’m hoping to run the 5k in around 30 minutes which seems pretty doable to me.

Well, the rest of today is going to be grocery shopping after lunch and then some watering of my flowers. I’m going to miracle gro them a bit to help them out. We don’t miracle gro the veggies that we eat though, we just hope the manure does the trick!

05.28.10 – Happy Friday!

I realize I never posted again yesterday! Too busy I guess. ๐Ÿ™‚

The zoo was great. The weather was wonderful, the kids were well behaved and we had a nice time. I stayed on track with my eating and exercise yesterday. I think I had 27 DP, using 3 WPA and I earned 5.5 APs. I’m doing well going into the weekend.

This morning I ran/jog/walked for 54 minutes on the treadmill earning 4 APs. It wasn’t solid treadmill, I broke it up into segments, mostly because my HRM was wonky again. That thing drives me crazy sometimes.

I had oats for breakfast and still need to figure out what’s for lunch. I have a couple of ideas in mind.

Today DD#1’s class is going to a local park for a fun day. Parents were invited to join them for a bit, but DD#2 is fighting something. Last night her fever was 100.5 so I gave her some ibuprofen. This morning she doesn’t have a fever, just no appetite and a runny nose. I think we’ll skip the park, but we may venture out to Walmart after lunch, although she’d probably rather have a rest at that point.

We have no concrete plans for the weekend. MY plans are to stay on track with eating and exercise and throw in a bit of leisure in there too. I’d like to take the kids to the beach either Saturday or Monday, but since DD#2 is ailing I think we’ll shoot for Monday. We also plan on having a bonfire at some point so the kids can roast jumbo marshmallows that my friend brought over. Seriously, they are 3 times the size of a normal marshmallow! Crazy! I also plan on getting in 1-2 runs on the levee this weekend. Next Saturday is the 5k and I’d like another shot at running outside.

I’m off to surf the web a bit and then get some chores done, although I got a lot already accomplished this morning! I love being an early riser!

Today was another good day. I got the timbers in our landscaping all stained so they match and look freshened up.

I ended today with 35 DP. I have about 12 or so WPA left for Saturday and Sunday. I decided to indulge a bit in some of my ‘favorite’ foods today. No guilt and in control, love it!

05.27.10 – Off to the Zoo

Well, at least this Zoo experience will be a bit warmer than 2 weeks ago. No jacket for me today, but plenty of sunscreen. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m happy to be starting the 4th day of counting points and feeling a bit more in control of myself. I started out the day right with some exercise! I got in some cardio on the elliptical and I did arms and abs today for strength. I didn’t follow a DVD, but instead did my own thing!

Breakfast was oats, but I changed it up a bit and used apple drink mix as my water. I’m going to do that again soon, I just like the tang of the apple. I’m also now eating a toasted thin to help tide me over until we have our morning snack at the Zoo.

05.26.10 – Humpin’ along…

Morning! As I thought, my quads are killing me. I did a 10 minute warmup on the elliptical this morning and then did 45 minutes on the treadmill. I like my new running shoes since they have such good support in them.

I have yoga this morning and then I’m going to go for a walk afterwards. I’ve already burned a little over 400 calories today and my legs are just too tired feeling for Zumba. Besides I have to make a quick detour to Walmart for lunch meat. Of course I forgot to buyย some yesterday and we have a field trip tomorrow that we need sandwiches for.

Breakfast was oats and I’ll have an apple for a snack before I go for my walk. Otherwise, I just have 2 loads of laundry for today and not much else. It’s supposed to rain/storm after noon today so we’ll see about an evening walk. I figured I’d just get it out of the way this morning.

Yoga was awesome once again. It seems she knew my legs were killing me and tortured us with chair pose and tons of leg work! LOL When I finally got home from shopping and putting air in my tires I went for a 30 minute walk. It is gorgeous out, sunny and warm! About 1/2 way through the walk my legs started to feel much looser. I came home and watered my plants in the front of the house. I know we are ‘supposed’ to get rain later on, but right now you wouldn’t know it. I’m holding off on watering the garden though. I have so much weeding I need to do in my flower beds, but I’m putting that on my to-do list for the 3 day weekend. Maybe I can enlist the help of the children. ๐Ÿ™‚

Today was yet another day of eating well. I used 28 DPs which means I used 4 WPA. I earned 5 APs today and did not get an evening walk in since it DID rain after all.

05.25.10 – Feeling great!

Morning all! Well, I survived my first day back on counting points. It was actually easier than I thought and I wasn’t starving all day! We’ll see what today holds. LOL

I got up this morning for some strength training. I opted for a 10 minute warmup on the elliptical and then I did 8 minutes of a DVD from the library. It’s Kathy Smith and I did the first section of just squats. Then I got out my Tami Lee Webb DVD and did her 15 minute leg portion. Let’s just say my quads and hamstrings are feeling a bit weak at the moment! It was a mere 200 calories burned since strength isn’t a huge cardio impact, but I’m happy with it overall. I’m planning on a stroll tonight after supper since I wimped out last night.

Breakfast was oats for 4 pts. It is always delicious! ๐Ÿ™‚

Soon I’m going to head out to Kohl’s to get some new running shoes. Mine are over 6 months old and I can see where the tread is wore. I figured since I’m running a race in 2 weeks a new pair of shoes is in order. After that it’ll be stopping for a few misc. items at Walmart.

Today was another great day for me. My eating was on par and I just felt ‘calm’. I love it when that happens.

I ended my day at 27 DP, using 3 WPA. I earned 2 APs. My evening walk did NOT happen since it was storming here and I couldn’t bring myself to walk on the treadmill. I’m saving it for in the morning when I get to try out my new running shoes!

05.24.10 – Back to Weight Watchers

Okay, I’m not going to meetings or joining online, I’m just going back to counting points. My eating is a bit crazed and out of control and I need to reign it in.

My horoscope was very fitting this morning…Do not shy away from responsiblities. You can complain about the difficulty of the task at hand – or you can view it as a challenge and successfully attack it head on.

Here’s my starting point…166.8# (blech…)

I get 24 points per day and I usually use 5 of the WPA per day, so my range is 24-29 points.

This morning I had the usual oatmeal (4 pts)ย for breakfast. I’m going to yoga soon AND Zumba. I debated going for a walk/jog on the levee but it’s already in the low 70’s and I don’t want to kill myself! LOL

My snack after yoga will be a Golden Delicious apple (1 pt)ย and that should do it until lunch rolls around.

Yoga was wonderful. I’m really enjoying myself in that class and I’m happy I’ll be able to take a summer session. Zumba on the other hand was a sweaty mess! Even though the air was on, she had us working out hard and I was feeling it. My HRM was a little wonky during part of it, but it said 284 calories burned! I’m going with it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Lunch was a veggie-filled salad with light french dressing (1 pt.). I also had a homemade 2 bean burger on a light bun (3 pts). That bean burger is so good and so versatile. I’m envisioning mashing it up into a wrap later on this week. I made a batch of 8 burgers on Sunday and froze them. They are a nice alternative to a Boca Burger and so much tastier.

We are off to the library to return about 20 books! I had to go on a hunt so find some of them, 3 ended up in dresser drawers! Oye.

05.21.10 – 164.8#!

Well, that 2.4# (temporary) gain is from cereal, raisins, sunflower seeds and peanut butter! I’m putting the kabosh (sp?) on that right now.

I started the day out right, with EXERCISE! I got in 45 minutes on the elliptical for over 300+ calories burned. Then I had a nourishing breakfast of oatmeal with zukes and carrots. I did my hair, brushed my teeth and promptly put in a stick of gum. My day went downhill yesterday shortly after breakfast, NOT today.

I’m not going to dwell on my issues or why I was overeating, I know why. I also know that I’m not happy with where my body is at right now, but I’m okay with it. I figure I have to love/like myself no matter what, but I know I’m capable of being ‘more’ comfortable and happy with myself.

No big plans for me today. I have outside work to do, but with the rain that is not going to happen. Tomorrow we are leaving for Milwaukee around noon and won’t be home until bedtime for the girls. That means I’ll have to tackle my outdoor projects on Sunday. I’d also like to get another run in on the levee so I may do that Sunday sometime, although it’s supposed to be in the high-80’s!

Good afternoon! Lunch was so good I just had to share.

Tuna salad on romaine lettuce. My tuna salad had:

  • 1 can of tuna
  • 1 T. light mayo
  • onions
  • peppers
  • green olives (a must!)
  • artichokes

Then I spread some laughing cow cheese on the lettuce leaves and topped it with the tuna. I added some chopped up tomatoes for extra veggies. It was very good and I know I could use more protein in my diet and the tuna fit the bill.

05.20.10 – 162.4#

Morning all! Well, last night I did better eating-wise. Not great, but it’s progress. ๐Ÿ™‚

I so did not want to get out of bed this morning. But I told myself I had to burn 200 calories, that’s it. So I did 251 and called it a morning. I’m hoping for a walk after supper tonight. Last night I played tennis in the driveway with DD#1 instead of walking.

DD#1’s dentist appointment went well. They did not pull the tooth. Instead he injected medicine and something to kill the nerve in the tooth. She’s good to go until we put a permanent filling in in June. Another weird thing is I didn’t have to pay for anything. Yet! Who knows what the bill will be for that procedure.

Today is DD#2’s ice cream treat day.ย Two other moms and I went in on purchasing things for ice cream sundaes. Of course she’s very excited and wants to put the sprinkles on! She’s been talking about it for two weeks now. ๐Ÿ™‚

My day is laundry, laundry, laundry! I went down to the mountains of dirty clothes and I have about 4 loads to do to catch up. Ugg…washing is easy, it’s the folding and putting away that takes forever. Oh, I also need to pop into the library since a DVD is in. It’s a Kathy Smith workout DVD. I don’t remember exactly which one, but I think I’ll give it a whirl on Sunday.
