1,000 to over 4,000!?

Last year I just celebrated 1,000 hits on my webiste. Today it’s over 4,000!

We had a great time at the picnic last night. My girls especially had a blast hanging out with an older girl who’s really just a kid at heart! They can’t wait to have a sleepover this summer with their friends and their cousin!

Today we head out about 9:30 to Baraboo. We are going to Hubby’s sister’s house to drop off her cookie dough. We’ll also get to see their new house they just bought. After that it’s off to Devil’s Lake State Park. It’s going to be a go-with-the-flow type of day. I have dinner cooking in the crockpot so I don’t have to cook when we finally do get home. I’m hoping for hiking, swimming (for the kids) and just relaxing and having a nice day.

Up and at ’em!

Well, sleeping in for me is truly pointless. I was awake at 4:30am, but lay in bed a bit. Last night hubby slept with L out in the tent since she didn’t get to do that for her sleepover. That means C slept with me, but on hubby’s side so I wasn’t getting kicked!

Yesterday we went to the greenhouse and got a ton of plants, some asparagus to plant and some to eat. Later this morning I’ll work on getting things planted in the garden and then I’ll be finished! Then it’ll be weeding and watering all summer until we benefit from our hard work. Nothing beats fresh veggies out of the garden!

The birthday party was nice, the sun came out and it got hot! Especially when I was in dark jeans, we retreated to the house after a bit. I loaded up on veggies and a pulled beef sandwich. I passed on the cake since it was store bought and looked horribly dry.

This morning is my day-of-rest so other than gardening that’ll be it for me today. Surprisingly my legs aren’t that sore from yesterday’s workout. The scale said 150.6# and as long as that holds out until Wednesday I’ll be able to weigh-in for free this month!

At 3pm today we leave for a cookout at a friend’s house. I have to bake my strawberry-rhubarb cake yet and figure out if grocery shopping can wait until tomorrow or later. I doubt we’ll starve!

I actually have a fairly active week coming up…

  • Sunday – cookout at friend’s house
  • Monday – Devil’s Lake, picnic, hiking, swimming?
  • Tuesday – Field trip with C to Wisconsin Dells, Tommy Bartlett and the Ducks
  • Wednesday – Weight Watchers, L has her park day at school
  • Thursday – 7:30am Carnival set-up at C’s school until 12:30ish, lunch out with hubby?
  • Friday – 9am Kindergarten Graduation for C at high school, early release at noon!
  • Saturday – 11am Canal Days Parade in town

At some point in the next week or so I’d like to buy the plants for my area out in front of the house. I’m not sure when that’s going to happen!

Sleepover FAIL!

Let’s recap Friday. I took the girls to school and attended the assembly at C’s school. Then I stopped at the grocery store for fresh fruit. Next was the library and finally Kwik Trip for milk, eggs & bananas. I came home, ate lunch, toiled in the garden for almost 2 hours and then relaxed for a bit.

The kids came home off the bus, their backpacks full of ‘goodies’ from school. L’s sleepover buddy came too. They ran around, explored things including the new tent that hubby bought at a garage sale. It’s so much larger and nicer than our old (broken) tent. We had supper (part of which I burned but the kids didn’t complain!). The girls got their jammies on and headed out to the tent. About 30 minutes later they came in saying the friend wanted to go home and what does ‘homesick’ mean? She called her mom and decided to wait another 45 minutes to decide. In the end she went home, taking L with her for a sleepover at her house! Do you know what that means!? Little sister had to sleep WITH us last night! Ugg….getting kicked and having my daughter snore in my ear is not my idea of a good nights sleep.

I got up at 5:30am and was debating on exercising or not. The scale said 150.6# so I decided to do some cardio/strength. I did a 10 minute warmup on the elliptical and then Jillian Michaels, Banish Fat Boost Metabolism workout. I’m happy I did it! After my workout I was 150.2#, that’s 13# less than last year! No wonder I can get in my skinny pants again!

L should be home around 10:30am and around 1pm we are leaving for a birthday party in a neighboring town. Before the party we are heading out to a greenhouse for the plants for my vegetable garden. It seems like every year that we go to the birthday party on Memorial Weekend we pick up my plants.

Sunday before our afternoon party/picnic I’ll be working in the garden as long as the rain holds off. I think I’m going to take a Strawberry-Rhubarb Cake to the picnic. I found a light recipe and since I have a bunch of rhubarb growing outside I thought it’d be a nice way to utilize that.

Today? is Friday?

For some reason I felt like yesterday was Friday. I’m sure it’s because I was on a field trip with L. However, TODAY is truly Friday. ๐Ÿ™‚ This morning I dropped the kiddos off at school at attended the assembly at C’s school. I presented the 3 retiring teachers with their goodie baskets from the Parent Club. I hate speaking in front of people and when one of the teachers started to cry I was done talking! It made me teary to be a part of such an awesome school and staff!

I did a bit of shopping at Pierce’s for some deals and then off to the library to pick up some books. I have a few thingsย I want to get done around the house today..

  • picking up and vacuuming
  • weeding the garden
  • making jello
  • cutting up rhubarb
  • making my list for Blackburn’s Greenhouse tomorrow
  • reading my new book

Nothing pressing, but things I should get done regardless. Our weekend is going to be pretty busy with something going on each day. I like it that way, keeps me out of trouble.

How to dress?

Well, the weather today isn’t ideal for looking at outdoor gardens. It seems like it’ll be quite windy and not very warm. I’ll just dress in layers so that I can be comfortable. At least L is going to the planetarium first so maybe it’ll warm up a tad before she’s outside.

We are also going to Menards for new timbers and if there is time after Olbrich I’m going to run into Aldi’s for a few things. We just have to be home by the time the bus brings the kids here! ๐Ÿ™‚

Xtreme! & a new oatmeal mix-in!

This morning I tried out the DVD I got from the library, Personal Training with Jackie, Xtreme Timesaver Training! Let’s just say it was tough! 30 minutes of cardio and strength combined. A few moves I had to take the easy way out and drop the weight in my hand. I’m interested to try some more of her DVDs.

I also finished up another book last night, Small Changes by Sheila Roberts. Another nice female bonding type book.

I have my Weight Watchers meeting today. I’m not going to weigh-in again since my scale has me down from last week, but not enough to be ‘free’ as a lifetimer. That means I have one week to drop 1-2# so my weigh-in will be where it needs to be to remain free. I look forward to my meeting each week, I’ve gotten to know a couple of members and I enjoy talking to them (when they are there!).

Tomorrow hubby and I are going to meet up with L’s class at Olbrich Botanical Gardens. We’ll eat lunch with them there and then do the tour of the outside gardens and the inside part. We are leaving early so we can get some new landscape timbers at Menards. Hubby finally removed a bush I’ve wanted out for over 2 years now and we need to replace the rotted wood. Now I have to figure out what I want to plant there! ๐Ÿ™‚

Friday morning I’m taking the girls to school and attending the assembly at C’s school. The Parent Club is going to be presenting the retiring teachers with a going-away present. I’m also going to be depositing a lot of cookies in their breakroom! We picked up the cookie dough last night from the fundraiser and I have 2 tubs ready to be baked tomorrow. L will also be taking some to her classroom for snack on Friday. Lord knows I don’t need 2 tubs of cookie dough laying around! LOL

Last night we went shoe shopping after supper and after picking up the dough. L is pretty set on shoes for the summer, but she got 2 new pairs of flip flops. C is the tough one. She’s super picky and likes what she likes. ๐Ÿ˜› We did manage a new pair of black shoes on clearance for $5! woohoo to saving money! She also got a new pair of tennis shoes, since her 2 pairs at home no longer fit and are now on the way to the landfill. We finished her up with one new pair of black flip flops. That trip should take us through until school starts in the Fall.

There’s not much else happening around here. I’m doing laundry today and just taking it easy, as usual!


I almost forgot about my new oatmeal concoction! This morning I added in rhubarb! Last night I diced some pieces up and added a packet of truvia. This morning I put it into my oats with cinnamon, flaxseed, wheat germ and walnuts! Delicious!
