At your throat!

The girls are at each other’s throats this morning! It’s not awful, it’s just slightly comical.

Yesterday we went to the beach and met up with some friends and then MORE friends showed up! It was a regular beach party! We ended up leaving early enough to scrounge up some supper and get cleaned up to go to the concert in the park. The band was Late 4 Dinner and they were pretty good and funny too. We once again hooked up with some friends and the girls got exhausted running on the levee and swinging. Bed time happened last night without a lot of complaining.

Of course that meant they didn’t want to get up this morning and I’m sure that’s why they are a tad cranky! The good news is we aren’t going anywhere this afternoon. It’s a home day, time to get things handled around here and get L packed for the weekend up north with her grandparents and cousin.

My workout this morning was No More Trouble Zones and 15 minutes on the elliptical. I know I said I was going to walk the levee this morning, but I’m not. I think I’ll head to the Dollar Tree instead and pick up some ‘fun’ things for the girls to do this weekend up north. A surprise goodie bag! That sounds way more fun than walking 5 miles! LOL

The scale this morning was down to 148.4#! My minor goal for July is to stay in the 140’s and not venture back into the 150’s. Doable.

Enjoy your Thursday. The air is off for now since it’s so darn nice, but once the heat rises we’ll be shutting the windows and seeing how cool we can keep the house before we have to turn the air on.

Glorious Weather!

Nothing can beat this weather we are having! Finally! Something nice and the wind died down from yesterday.

This morning I did a pretty easy cardio workout with some core work. I wasn’t feeling it, so I did what I felt like. We dropped the kiddos off at school and did some Walmart shopping. I’m seriously trying to stop going there so much and hopefully it will save some money on impulse shopping. Although today we bought two new fold-up chairs, but we truly do need them if we are going to enjoy concerts in the park. We needed something easier for the kids to carry and I think we found them.

I have weigh-in today at noon, I’ll be down from last week but I’m not sure how much. I really need to focus on next week’s weigh-in so I stay free for the month of July too! I then have an eye appointment at 1pm. I’m going to get new lenses for my older set of frames. They are much lighter than my current ones and I should save $100 by using what I have. Then I think we’ll be off to the beach. My friend Amber called to say they’d be there today and while my girls originally said they didn’t want to go today, once they hear that their friends are going to be there they will change their minds.

Tonight we are planning on going to the Concert in the Park and possibly walking a bit on the levee, if we can get their early enough and the girls find some energy! Maybe the promise of a goodie afterwards will be motiviation! LOL (I know, don’t bait my kids with food! Sometimes it works.)

That’s all from my neck of the woods. I’m just trying to take advantage of the lack of humidity for now.

I try to pack foods to take along, or at least plan ahead on where we are eating.

Time alone on a Tuesday!

Well, this morning hubby took the girls to summer school since he’s doing a job right near the schools. I’ll be doing the pickup at noon so he can stay working. He thinks it’ll be a 1-2 day job at most.

My day started out with light cardio and weights in the basement. I knew I’d be going on a walk on the levee this morning so I didn’t kill myself. The levee walk was nice. Not many people, I could hear the frogs croaking and thank goodness for the pit stop along the route!

I came home, cleaned myself up, had a snack and went out into the garden while the computer finished updating itself. The garden is coming along nicely. This year we don’t have straw down for weed control and the weeds have been very minimal. The scuffle hoe is a dream and I’ve just done hand weeding near the base of the plants and along the fences. Soon we are going to be overrun with cucumbers! I have in 4 different varieties and 5-7 plants total. Two varieties already have about 8-10 tiny cucumbers on them! Multiply that by 5 and that’s a lot o’ cukes! It’s a good thing everyone in my family likes eating them and I have some friends that will lighten my load.

My onions are also coming along nicely. I planted most of them so they would be large slicing onions, but I have 3 clusters that could be picked at any time for green onions. I have one tiny banana pepper growing and a lot of my tomato plants have flowers. I have 4 varieties of tomatoes, one cherry, one roma, one regular and one yellow. I can’t wait for fresh tomatoes!

The broccoli is coming along nicely too. They are various sizes which hopefully means they won’t all need to be picked at the same time and we can enjoy them for a bit longer. My snap peas are all flowering, but the regular peas haven’t done anything yet.

I’m also impressed with the cantaloupe plant this year. It has 10 or more flowers on it now, I’m only hoping that means we’ll get a nice crop of cantaloupe to enjoy later this summer. I think I planted them 2 years ago and had marginal success.

One thing I’m probably NOT going to plant next year is carrots. I’ve never had a lot of luck with them, even with seed tape, so they’ll probably give up their garden space to a more productive vegetable.

Okay, enough garden talk! It’s making me antsy for fresh veggies! LOL After lunch today we are going to attempt going to the beach. It’s a tad breezy today, but it just ‘might’ be warm enough to go. Otherwise I’m going to shoot for tomorrow, but my afternoon is pretty busy so I don’t know if we can squeeze it in or not.

Let’s get this week going!

Okay, I’m being upbeat and positive, but I kinda feel that way. 😛

Let’s see…yesterday we had a picnic with hubby’s family. It went very well and I even got both gardens weeded when we came home. Surprisingly the weeds haven’t been too bad and I even have some veggies making an appearance. I have tiny broccoli heads forming, tiny cucumbers (we are going to have a ton this year!), baby zucchini, a tiny banana pepper and a ton of lettuce! It looks like salads galore at our house in the next few weeks! My cantaloupe plant has a ton of flowers so I’m curious to see how many materialize into cantaloupe.

This morning for exercise I did the elliptical, treadmill, elliptical, followed by some leg stretches. I’m going to Zumba this morning and I’m going to attempt to wear my HRM. It will always work first thing in the morning, but then when I try to wear it again later on it won’t find a heart beat. I don’t know if it’s TOO wet or what. Anyway, I put it on now and it seems to be working.

After lunch today I’m taking all 4 girls to the library. My two have been complaining about not having anything to read, so I thought we’d remedy that situation! Today is possibly the only day I have my friend’s two girls to watch. It’s definately easier to just worry about my two, but I know they like to play together.

That’s it for me. Things are going well. TOM is looming, but I’m feeling pretty confident that I’ll have a good weigh-in on Wednesday.

A family get-together!

Today we are getting together with Hubby’s side of the family. We are having a picnic at his dad’s house. I’m looking forward to chatting with everyone there and letting the kids see their cousins.

Yesterday we had a picnic with my college friends and their families. It was a beautiful day! The sun was out, it wasn’t too hot, we walked to the park so the kids could play there for a bit, the food was delicious and fresh! We ended up coming home with two worn out kids who pretty much went to bed without a fuss.

This morning was a day-of-rest for me. Instead of getting up early an exercising, I got up early and did an at-home pedicure! I found some lavendar foot oil and I got my toes all prettied up for the week ahead. The weather actually looks promising and I’m hoping for a few beach days coming up!

My week ahead looks like this…

  • Wednesday – summer school, Weight Watchers, eye exam, beach?

A picnic in the sun!

I’m so happy the sun decided to make an appearance today! It’ll make for a much nicer picnic.

So, yesterday L complained of it hurting when she when to the bathroom and I was thinking UTI. However, this morning she isn’t having any issues. We’ve decided to play it by ear and if we need to go to UC this weekend we will. I think she maybe just didn’t go soon enough and it hurt because of that. Anyway, we’re keeping it in check. I’m also going to reschedule my eye appointment for next week. It was just too much rushing around this morning. We are still going to go to the Open House for the new school administration building at 10am. That way we’ll make it to the picnic by 11am.

I had a nice time last night chatting with 2 of my girlfriends. It’s nice to just get out, alone and talk to other adults! 🙂

Food so far today..

Breakfast was something other than oatmeal! (That makes two times this week!) It was a mini bagel, pepperjack cheese, egg white & tomato. I had this along with sauteed peppers, onions, mushrooms and spinach in 1 t. olive oil.  After that it has been…

  • orange
  • cappuccino
  • 1/2 small cantaloupe with cottage cheese & pineapple (before Zumba)
  • apple & banana (after Zumba)
  • small jello w/sugar free applesauce (after Zumba)

Lunch will be a picnic in the park. I have a low carb tortilla, laughing cow cheese spread, ham, lettuce & mustard wrap. I also made coleslaw with tzatziki sauce and have some cut up peppers and pea pods along too. I don’t know that I’ll eat everything I brought, but I like to be prepared. 🙂

Supper tonight is leftover Mexican Casserole with homemade pita chips, cheese, salsa and sour cream. I may toss in carrots or green beans into that mix.

I also have a snack of popcorn with olive oil in my plan for today.

After supper tonight I’m going to meet up with a girlfriend who is in town. I’ll just be sippin’ on my water while we chat!

So, what’s my plan for tomorrow? Picnic food can be tempting! Well, I know I’m bringing two bags of salad, baby carrots, cauliflower and sugar free jigglers. I plan on having a nice large salad along with my lunch. I believe I’ll have the grilled chicken breast and may cut it up and make a salad out of the whole thing. Another friend of mine is bringing along fruit, which will make a good dessert along with my jigglers. Another friend is in charge of desserts, caramel filled rice krispie treats and cookies with cream cheese spread! Deadly for me and I will be avoiding them this year! I can’t recall if last year or the year before got me into trouble and I had a major sugar binge! I think two years ago, and I don’t plan on a repeat of that!

Sunday we have a picnic too! I’m taking my low point homemade potato salad, sugar free jigglers and high calorie brownies! L is in a cooking class for summer school and she made the brownie mix in a jar. We ONLY have to add 1 1/2 sticks of butter and 4 eggs! Yikes! I’m hoping the youngsters with the fast metabolisms eat those up!

I believe my MIL is having chicken breasts and brats. I may just bring along my own Hebrew National hot dog to this event. I’m not sure yet.

Anyway, I gotta run to pick up the kids! The sun is peaking out!

Park Day!

Well, it’s not sunny out, BUT it’s not raining either! It’s 60 degrees now with a high in the low 70’s today. I’ll take that even if it’s not super sunny. We are having a picnic lunch at the park today after summer school. It may be a bit cool, but I think having the kids get outside a run around will be nice for them! They can always come home and warm up with cocoa if they need to! LOL

This morning I decided to run on the treadmill and do some strength training. I’m also going to Zumba this morning. After that I’ll come home and make sandwiches for lunch. I have 2 other moms that should be meeting us at the park. Some are getting ready to go on vacation and one has a sick son. I’m going to coordinate another get together during the 2nd session of summer school. Hopefully we’ll have better weather and a better turnout with kids and moms.

Tonight my friend Sandy comes to town for our annual picnic. I’m going to head out to her hotel room after supper and chat with her a bit. We never get a lot of serious chatting done at the picnic because there are so many other things going on. At least tomorrow’s weather looks sunny and warm!

We have a pretty busy weekend coming up. I’m looking forward to getting to see all the family members and friends!

Oh, yesterday ended with 29 points again! I’m feeling pretty in control again after my snafu on Tuesday. The scale is also back under 150# which is where I like it to be!
