Happy Halloween! Are you able to sit?

Happy Halloween everyone! The girls are looking forward to tonight’s festivities! Here’s what they looked like yesterday when we went to the nursing home, they even met up with a friend of C’s while they were there.

 

It was a pretty nice turnout at the nursing home. Of course, my kids are anti-social, so it was shortlived too! LOL

So, can you sit? I can for now, but later on today it’ll be tough to stand back up! My legs are feeling the squats and step-ups I did on my first workout this morning. I warmed up for 13 min. on the elliptical and then walked for 30 minutes on the treadmill after. I’m happy to be back on track with exercise and eating well. The past 2 days haven’t been stellar, but such is life in my world.

Hubby left this morning and will be home Friday. Things are going to be a bit different around here. I can’t pawn off math homework on dad this week! I usually take care of the reading part and send the girls to him for math. We’ll manage.

I am going to Zumba this morning too! It’s been a long time since I’ve gone and my body needs the activity and I need the energizing music today! It looks a tad gloomy out right now, but I hear the sun should make an appearance later.

Things in life…

I had a nice time at Pewit’s Nest yesterday with hubby.

 

The girls inturn had a fun time at the waterpark with their aunt! (no photos though 😦 )

I had an awful eating afternoon yesterday. I choose not to rehash it.

Tomorrow I start NRLFW. I’m excited to have something new to do.

Hubby leaves for Milwaukee in the morning, around 4:15am and will be gone until Friday night, we think.

My coming week looks a bit like this, so far…

  • M – Lifting, Zumba, Halloween Party 4pm, Trick-or-treating after
  • T – walk on treadmill, plant tulip bulbs
  • W – Lifting, Weight Watchers (probably be paying this week)
  • Th – walk on treadmill
  • F – Lifting, early release from school
  • S – Zumba
  • S – Day of rest

I did take some ‘before’ pictures this morning, and I have a lovely food-belly going on. That’ll at least my make ‘after’ pictures look good! LOL

Recipe time!

I tried a new to us recipe last night for supper. Surprisingly it was a hit with everyone, even the girls! That means it deserves a posting here.

Meat Bun Bake (aka Bisquick with cabbage and meat in it!)

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 c. chopped cabbage
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 t. salt (or less)
  • 1/4 t. pepper
  • 2/3 c. shredded cheese (I used a WW blend)
  • 1 1/2 c. bisquick
  • 1 c. skim milk
  • 2 eggs

Cook the beef, onions & cabbage until meat is no longer pink and cabbage and onions are tender, drain. Preheat oven to 400 and spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray. Spread the meat in the bottom of the pan, cover with the cheese.

Mix the bisquick, eggs and milk together until smooth and pour over the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

My changes were to add in some caraway seeds on top of the cheese and to end up baking for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. I served 6 large pieces for 7 p+ and everyone thought it was great! Next time I may add a few more spices to it and possibly some peppers.

On to today. Well, of course I went to bed early last night and was awake a bit after 4am. I have NOT been feeling my workouts lately and so that’s a sign to me to lay off. So, no formal exercise, just hubby and I checking out Pewitt’s Nest later this morning. Sunday is my day of rest too. I’ll just start gearing myself up for the New Rules of Lifting for Women which I am starting on Monday.

My plan is to take body measurements on Sunday and my ‘before’ photos that day. I’ll start the program on M and do M, W, F of lifting. It says that you really shouldn’t do much else, like intense cardio, but I think on T & Th I will at least walk briskly on the treadmill. I’m also going to use the elliptical/treadmill to do my warmup before I start lifting. I’m also trying to figure out how to attend 1-2 Zumba classes during the week. I may sign up for the Saturday classes that are starting next week, or just go M & F.

Let’s back up to yesterday. So, I drive to my friend’s house, drop off the girls and we head to the movie. Only to find out that the movie we want to see is having technicial difficulties! Sure, it’s the ONLY one not playing. Such is life! So we just did a detour to the library so I could pick up my books and find a couple of DVDs for the girls. We went back to her house and then I brought her daughter over to play with my girls for a bit. We realized we hadn’t had her over in forever and it was a nice change of pace for my girls.

Today is the $6 admittance to a waterpark. The girls are going with their aunt and hubby and I are on our own until at least 3pm. We have exploring Pewitt’s Nest and Menards on our list. I am not a huge fan of Menards, but it hit me yesterday that I need to get some bulbs to plant so they’ll bloom next spring. According to the weather forecast, Tuesday looks like a nice day to get outside and plan them.

In other news, hubby will be leaving for Milwaukee on Monday morning. We aren’t 100%sure if it’s M-Th or M-F, either way we are going to miss him around here. We started working on his list of things to pack since he’ll have to leave the house around 4:15am on Monday. We’ll be doing a lot of prep on Sunday for that.

Alright, I’m super chatty for 5am and I’m off to do nothing! LOL

Good Friday!

We didn’t go out for dinner last night. Instead L let me purchase the food she would have eaten at the restaurant and we ate at home. Much cheaper and much more calorie friendly! LOL

Eating has been so-so, the scale is up higher than I want, but that’s my own deal. Working on it. I’ve also been feeling pretty lack-luster about working out. Yes, I do it, but it’s not fun lately. I’m looking forward to starting my new workout program on Monday. I need a change for sure.

This afternoon I’m going to see Footloose with a friend. I’m looking forward to it! Yesterday I took the girls to see Zookeeper! Hilarious! I laughed out loud many times and the girls enjoyed themselves too. I love the canned-good movie.

Tomorrow the girls are going to the waterpark with their aunt and hubby and I are going hiking in Baraboo. He also wants to stop at Menards, I detest that store! I may bring a magazine to read in the van while he shops.

Nothing else new to report. I may have a new recipe to post tomorrow.

She’s 9!

Today is L’s 9th Birthday! We are going to the canned-good movie at 10am and then shopping at Book World after. Tonight L has chosen to go out to dinner tonight for her birthday! Give me strength to order well! LOL

It’s Wednesday?

For some reason this week I feel ahead of myself. I keep thinking it’s a day later than it actually is, so I had to remind myself this morning when my alarm went off that it was only Wednesday. I have weigh-in today and it’s going to be close. The scale was an even 151# this morning. I can go as high as 152# at WW and not have to pay, we’ll see what happens. Regardless I need my meeting since I missed last week.

So, yesterday I got the book I was waiting for, New Rules of Lifting for Women. I’m excited to give this program a shot! It’ll take 6 months to complete all of the stages. I’m going to be starting on Monday and I’ll do strength training M W F for 6 weeks and then I get one week off before I move onto stage 2. I’m going to start a separate page to discuss this program. I am going to take some before photos, but I don’t know if I’ll post them or not, who really wants to see my in my undies! LOL It looks like that for the first 6 weeks I’ll be able to do all the moves with the equipment I have, dumbbells, bar, swiss ball and my weight machine. After that I’ll have to look into if I have the right equipment or if I’m going to have to modify some of the moves.

So my upcoming weekend is fairly busy, which is good!

  • Thursday – L’s 9th birthday! We are going to see Zookeeper at the movie theatre for a canned good admittance. She’s also going to Book World to use the gift certificate she got for her birthday.
  • Friday – Playdate? not sure
  • Saturday – The girls are going to the waterpark with their aunt. Hubby and I may choose to go hiking at Devil’s Lake. We are also planning on taking L out for her birthday dinner that evening.
  • Sunday – There is a halloween party at the local nursing home. It has prizes, a parade, cookie decorating and goodie bags. The girls are excited about going to that.
  • Monday – Halloween! C gets to wear her costume to school that day. After school L’s school is hosting a Halloween Party that we’ll attend. After that we may go trick-or-treating in the neighborhood for a bit.
  • Tuesday – rest!

It also looks like hubby will be working in Milwaukee next week. That means he’ll be gone Monday morning until Thursday night. We’ve decided it makes more sense for him to stay there in a hotel than be driving for 4 hours (or more) a day! It’ll take a bit of planning on our end to make sure he has enough food, etc, but it’ll be worth it.

Strength training on a Tuesday

Well, I attempted to strength train. I say attempted because I didn’t have a formal plan to follow, just a book with some moves in it. I did a bunch of arm exercises, some abs and some legs. I’m feeling it in my arms, it was difficult to wash my hair afterwards! I’m hoping the book I want from the library shows up soon so I can get a formal workout in place. I’d like to start on November 1st (or Oct. 31st), but we’ll see what happens.

Things have been going pretty well in my world. Eating is in check, exercise is decent and my mood is good. The scale rewarded my 13 days of not binge-eating with 149.6 on the scale! Thank god I’m seeing the 4’s again. That’s where I want to be forever, but a tad lower! LOL

I’ve finished counting the box tops for our school, we made just over $1500 this year and we’ll try again in the spring. Now we are going to count up Labels for Education so we can purchase items for the school. They have a catalog full of items and the amount of points it takes to purchase them. I’m hoping for a bunch of those too! Our huge school fundraiser didn’t turn out so huge. Last year we sold about $27,000 worth of product. This year we are around $10,000. Is the economy to blame? Who knows, but we’ll just have to be a bit more frugal with our funds this year.

I have to head out to school soon and drop off box tops and then I’m headed to Aldi’s to stock up on supplies. Tonight we have to dip and sprinkle pretzel rods for L’s bday treat at school. There’s always something to keep us busy!

She’s losing it!

Well, C’s losing it at least! Her first tooth is gone!

 

She was outside at her grandparent’s house helping to pick up apples from their tree. She decided to take a bite and the rest is history! The next thing I knew she was walking in the house carrying her tooth with a bloody grin on her face. She was sooo excited to finally lose that tooth! We cleaned her up a bit and put the tooth in a baggie for safe keeping. Now both of our girls have an interesting story on how they lost their first tooth.

Another thing happened while we were there. L lost her brand new mp3 player we bought her for her birthday! She had it in her hoodie pocket and it was just gone. The men and kids went to help scour the yard, which was very difficult with all the leaves on the ground. Thankfully hubby found it after returning to the woods in the back of the house and giving it another good rake! L was so relieved it was found. (so was I).

Well, errands galore today….I’m forgoing Zumba until Wednesday (if I feel like it LOL)

The day after….

well, the party was a hit and exhausting at the same time!

The party was very long and L is now asleep on the couch. Considering they fell asleep around midnight and got up at 6am, they should ALL be exhausted. I know I’m feeling it too! 😛

Once all the girls were picked up we headed over to my inlaw’s house for lunch. I downed TWO diet Mt. Dews and I was still yawning. Early to bed for me tonight!
