Pardeemom

My life as a woman, wife and mother.

2nd week!

It was my 2nd week at Weight Watchers and I learned a bit more and felt more confident with what I was doing. I like the fact that I am NOT stressing out about this job and taking it as it comes.

As far as weigh-in I was down .2#. I’ll take anything that is going in the negative direction! Of course, I was disappointed, but not surprised since I weighed in at home the exact same weight as last Wednesday morning.

Nothing else new to say, enjoy the rain or snow, whatever the weather is spitting out right now! LOL

$434.60

Okay, that total is a bit better. There were more box tops turned in on Friday so we have a new total. THAT will buy 2 Ipods for sure! 🙂

This morning I decided to sleep in a bit and just do housecleaning as my ‘exercise’ for the day. I cleaned up the bathroom first and then tackled the kitchen. I pulled out the fridge and cleaned under it and behind it. I cleaned out all the upper cabinets, wiping the shelves and doors and tossing a few items. I wiped down the countertops, and the lower cabinets (not inside). The microwave and stove needed a quick cleaning too and I ended up with the sink. The floor only needed a sweep and I now have a lovely clean kitchen (for now!). It took over an hour to get everything done and I’m happy with that for my active day-of-rest.

The scale has been holding steady at 152.8# for several days now, makes me almost think it’s broken! LOL TOM is here though so I’m hoping it actually helps me out at the scale tomorrow. Typically I’m down a bit during TOM, I think it’s due to not being on BC pills during that time.

I get to work at Weight Watchers again tomorrow! I’m excited for it, call me crazy, but I love listening to people, weighing them in, putting out the product and just being busy and useful! I wish I could still attend my meetings beause I do miss interacting with the ladies. I may end up going to some Thursday evening meetings just to get that contact. Plus it’ll be nice not to have to weigh in and be starving during the meeting! LOL

Nothing else is on tap for me today. I send the box tops to school with C so I didn’t have to venture out.

Have a great Tuesday!

$375

That’s how much money we raised from Box Tops this time around. Not great considering we raised a bit over $1500 in the fall. However, on the bright side, that’s $375 we didn’t have before and that we can now spend on the kids at school! That would almost buy 2 Ipods. 🙂

Weekend recap….

Saturday – I went to Zumba, none of my friends were there, boo 😦 but I still had a great time! I rushed home so we could go see the canned good movie, Puss In Boots. Good movie and it was so packed they opened an additional theatre for the overflow. We then went to the library while we waited for the girls’ personal pizzas to be ready for pickup. The rest of Saturday was just lolling around at home, reading books and baking bread.

Sunday – Early morning exercise. I busted out The 30 Day Shred and did Level 3. Well, my upper and middle back is sure feeling that workout today! After breakfast I packed lunches and snacks for the day and we headed to Madison.

The first stop was Menards. We needed new faucets for our bathroom and a new whole house filter setup. We were able to find some nice things there and it’s awesome to have new faucets! I guess it’s the simple things that make me happy! After that it was Aldi & Woodman’s. Let’s just say I am not a fan of Woodman’s on the West side at all! Awful experience.

Then JcPenney to look for winter coats for next year. Each girl got a coat for $20 each and I’m pretty happy with their choices. Let’s hope they still like them in the fall. I am disappointed I couldn’t find any left for me, but such is life.

Finally, we went to the Hilldale Mall to view C’s artwork. Here she is!

It was neat to see all the various types of artwork from area schools. Definately worth the drive down there. 🙂

On to today….I got in 30 minutes on the treadmill, a bit of abs and some stretching. I’m also going to Zumba at 9:30. After that I have to drop off the Box Tops at school and get a few items from Walmart, most importantly razors and sports bras! 😛

Worn out but good.

This morning I’m not doing a home workout, I don’t feel like it, meh. I do have Zumba at 8:30am so I will get some exercise today. Tomorrow I think I’m going to get out another Jillian DVD to do in the morning. Sunday morning TV is awful. We don’t have cable and I can’t wait until after 7am to work out. That’s when the local news is on.

So, what’s been going on. Let’s see if I can even remember….Thursday I got in touch with Sue D. from Weight Watchers, we went over a few things on the telephone and she was very helpful. After C’s conferences we headed over to the Thursday night WW meeting so I could get the leader to sign and verify some of my paperwork and then we dropped it off at the post office on the way home. Taken care of for now. Once they process me I’ll get another packet in the mail and can start my online training.

C’s conference went well. Of course there are still things she needs to work on and we’ll continue to help her out with those things at home. She’s a great reader, but needs to catch up on her writing skills. I’ve been encouraging her at home and we got some sheets from the teacher that she WANTED to do last night! 🙂 At least she is willing.

Friday….I worked out at home. I did HIIT on the treadmill and then a session of incline training. I went to Zumba and the class was super small, I’m talking 7 of us in total. It was a pretty good class with a few new songs that were fun to do. I did miss my friend Tami for my extra motiviation, but I just had to make myself shake it on my own!

After that I went to BJ’s to price front loader washing machines. It’s still uncertain if we are going to buy one or not, but at least now I have a better idea as to the price of them. We’d pay about $100 more to buy one locally than from a big box store in Madison.

On tap for today is Zumba and then the canned good movie at 10:30am. It’s Puss n Boots, the character from Shrek and even hubby thinks he’ll go to this one. After that our day is open.

Tomorrow we head to Madison to view C’s artwork at the Hilldale Mall. After this closes tomorrow at 2pm the artwork will go on to a state competition. I had no idea it was that big of a deal. I’ll need to remember the camera for sure!

At some point this weekend I need to bake some bread, but that’s all for extra things to do.

Have a great Saturday!

Good morning!

I’m finally getting on her to post, today has been pretty busy already!

My morning workout was a 10 min. treadmill warmup. Then I got out a DVD I haven’t used in a long time. I did the 15 min. arms and 15 min. legs portion of the DVD. It felt good to lift some weights again and I could tell my strength has increased!

Then I went to the library, Kmart, Walmart, C’s school and Kwik Trip. Many small trips and then I forgot to stop at BJ’s! Oh well, another day.

At Walmart I did find a new electric blanket for $54! Pretty good price, let’s hope hubby approves of it. He loves to research things to death before we buy them, I just bought it! 🙂

Tonight we have parent/teacher conferences for C. Tomorrow is early release and the girls are going to their friend’s house for a bit. I’m going to Zumba and then not much else. I’ll take it!

Have a great Thursday!

Weight Watchers

Today was my first day at Weight Watchers and it was wonderful. It’s about what I expected for my first day and I’ll just continue to learn more each week at the meetings and once I work on my online training. The two hours sure flew by!

The added bonus is I was down .8# to 154# on the nose. 4# away from my goal and I’ll get there. I’m going to continue on not eating after supper and work on tweeking my diet more as necessary. So far I feel I’m making very good choices and I’m proud of myself for that.

1st day of ‘work’!

Work? What is that? Seriously, this job at Weight Watchers will hardly seem like work to me. I’m excited for today. I’m also excited for weigh-in since my home scale is showing lovely numbers. I attribute it to not eating after supper for the past 6 nights, yep, 6 nights in a row, it’s almost becoming a habit for me to do things other than eat. I’m digging it!

My workout this morning was 15 min. on the elliptical. Then I busted out a DVD I haven’t done in ages, I did the 15 min. ab part and then added another 10 minutes of my own ab exercises. I’ll feel the burn tomorrow! I ended it up with 15 more min. on the elliptical and some stretching.

After breakfast and the kids were out the door I got to work on tonight’s supper. It’s a roast in the crockpot made Italian style. Later on I’ll shred the beef for sandwiches, pitas, tortillas, etc. I got the roast on sale. I’m a sucker lately for looking for discount meat. I picked up 5# of chicken breasts for a bit over $7 yesterday. A 3# bag of frozen chicken breasts costs that much, so I got a good deal. I spent some time this morning trimming off the bits of fat and packaging them up in portions that we would use for suppers. We should be set on discount meat for a bit! LOL

Oh, I picked up our taxes yesterday. I’m sooooo happy with the amount we are getting back. Our washer and dryer are 12 years old and the washer is starting to make horrid noises. Rather than fix it we’d like to upgrade to front loaders. That way we can fit more in and use less water. Bonus for us and the environment. We also need to buy a new electric blanket, which isn’t a ton of money, but we are too cheap to buy one until now! 🙂

So, I’ll report back in after weigh-in and my first day on the job. 🙂

Gentle snowflakes…

At least we are getting a ‘small’ snowfall around here. It looks pretty, but I’ll take the sunshine any day!

So, C had her first filling yesterday afternoon. She did great the entire time and we were out of there in 25 minutes maximum. She even wanted to go back to school for 1/2 an hour! Instead we came home so she could complain about missing her sister! LOL At least she’s learning to tell time now and could tell me how much longer it would be until the bus came.

This morning my workout was running/jogging/walking/incline on the treadmill for 45 minutes. I did a bit of stretching too, and I’m happy my legs are feeling much better. That means I can torture them again on Thursday!

I have a ton of things on my to-do list today…

  • Walmart for a few things
  • Order Jimmy John’s for Parent Teacher Conferences
  • Gas up the van, pick up bananas and milk
  • Make crockpot oats
  • Bake muffins for C’s snack day tomorrow
  • Parent Club meeting tonight, prepare for that
  • Pick up our taxes
  • I’m sure I’m forgetting something else….

That’s it from me, have a great day!

It’s cavity-filling day!

C is not excited about going to the dentist this afternoon. I hope it puts the fear into her so she brushes and flosses better. I feel for her though, I’m not fond of fillings myself.

So, this past weekend was pretty nice. The kids got to play outside quite a bit and I found myself being conned into holding one end of the jumprope for a bit yesterday. They got a lot of fresh air on Saturday and Sunday.

I tried some new recipes over the weekend. The Shepherd’s Pie was a hit, last night’s dish, not so much. It was pasta with butternut squash as the ‘sauce’. I thought it was okay, but not fabulous. Tonight’s dinner is another new to us recipe, Beef Mushroom Barley Soup. It smells delicious, but let’s find out how it tastes later on.

I did 30 minutes of cardio this morning and some stretching and foam rolling. Things are starting to feel a bit less tight and I’m happy for that! I have Zumba this morning at 9:30am and then I need to go to the library since I have nothing to read. I finished up a book yesterday. The Wife’s Tale by Lori Lansens. A good read, I’m hoping her other book is just as well written.

Not much else to say. Have a great Monday!

Shepherd’s Pie – My way

This was my attempt at recreating High Rock Cafe’s wonderful Shepherd’s Pie. I came pretty darn close! It was delicious! Lots of work though.

Shepherd’s Pie

  • 2 t. olive oil
  • 1 c. onion, chopped
  • 1 c. carrots, diced
  • 1 c. celery, diced
  • 2 T. flour
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 t. thyme
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1/4 t. pepper
  • 1 T. soy sauce
  • 8 oz. ground turkey
  • 4 cups kale, steamed
  • 1# potatoes, peeled & diced
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 T. skim milk
  • 2 T. low fat sour cream
  • salt and pepper

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Cook the potatoes and the garlic. Steam the kale.

Heat the oil in a pan, add celery, onions and carrots. Cook for about 3-5 mintues. Add the turkey and cook through. Add 2 T. flour, thyme, salt and pepper and toss to coat. Stir in beef broth and soy sauce and simmer until thickened. Stir in the steamed kale.

Use 4 individual dishes to prepare the pies. Divide the turkey & kale filling evenly among the 4 dishes. Place the prepared mashed potatoes on top of each pie. Bake for 20 minutes, then add some cheese to the top of the potatoes and bake another 10 minutes or so.

The total for the pie with potatoes AND cheese was 9 points+. Hot, delicious and a thumbs up from the whole family. The portions were just right for hubby and I, but the kids will be eating leftovers for lunch today. 🙂

~~~~~~~~~~
Not much else to report. I decided on a day of rest today since my hamstrings and chest/arms are very sore. I’ll be back at it tomorrow!
Here’s the upcoming week…
  • Monday – Zumba, Dentist appointment for C, her first cavity! Ugg..
  • Tuesday – Baraboo in the morning, bake muffins in the afternoon for snack day, Parent Club at 5:15
  • Wednesday – My first day of work at Weight Watchers! AND weigh-in (more on that in a bit)
  • Thursday – Parent Teacher conferences at night
  • Friday – Zumba, early release, girls are going to a friend’s for a play date
  • Saturday – Zumba, canned good movie in the morning
  • Sunday – Hilldale Mall for C’s artwork.
~~~~~~

Okay, on to weigh-in. I’ve been really motivated since I found out I’ll be working for WW soon. As you know, I’m over goal right now and I’m not happy about it. So since Thursday I have not been snacking after supper. Yeah, I may have a cappuccino, but I have not been injesting 5-10 points worth of carbs. I can feel it a bit in my body this morning and the scale is showing major improvement!

On to other things, the girls slept until 8am this morning! I thought they would never wake up, I had a good 3 hours of quiet before they got up. Nice! It’s hard to believe it’s almost noon and they aren’t driving me nuts! LOL

Have a great Sunday!
