Pull a muscle, it’s Monday!

Yeah, that troublesome muscle in my upper back/neck area is acting up again. Why? Well, I’ve been slacking on ab work lately, so I busted out my DVD for 15 minutes of core work. It’s the same workout I did a long time ago that sent me to my massage therapist to work out the muscle. Right now I have warm heat on it hoping to relax it out a bit before it’s full blown!

Before I pulled the muscle I worked out on the elliptical for 15 minutes, did the ab thing for 15 and then 10 more minutes on the elliptical before I did some stretching. I have Zumba this morning at 9:30am and I’m hoping it won’t aggravate my neck, I don’t want to shell out $60 for a massage right now.

Nothing much else to report, the scale is at 151#, I’ll take it, it’s exactly where I was on the 1st of April. I’m hoping to make May my month of breaking into the 140’s for good!

  • Monday – cardio at home, Zumba
  • Tuesday – strength training, phone conference call, walk?, shop for Teacher Appreciation gifts & birthday gifts
  • Wednesday – cardio at home, Zumba?, work two Weight Watchers meetings, inventory in Reedsburg
  • Thursday – DOR?, walk levee with friend?, work at WW & inventory again
  • Friday – cardio at home, Zumba?, early release from school, girls have friends over?
  • Saturday – cardio at home, Zumba at 8:30am, lunch date in Tomah with girlfriends, C attends a birthday party in the afternoon

No catchy title!

Morning! This morning I slept until 6AM! Craziness! I did 15 minutes on the elliptical and then finished up with Stage 1A NROLFW. I took photos again and compared them to when I started. Not much change except in my biceps and my obliques. I’ll take photos again before and after Stage 2 and see if there is more noticable differences.

Yesterday I attended the Celebrations meeting in the Dells for Weight Watchers. It was interesting to see all the people that work for WW in our area. We also had a lady who one a contest through weight watchers for an inspiring story. She’s at 96# lost and is hoping to make the 100# club this summer. It was also nice to chat and strategize with my co-workers. Both of my leaders and my co-receptionist all ate dinner together and we were the last ones there still talking! LOL

Today is a trip to Baraboo and then relaxation. It’s supposed to be warmer and sunnier which means my back porch will be awesome for reading this afternoon! Enjoy the day!

Stage 1 Results!

Okay, I have to do the final two workouts, but they are just a test of my improvement. I have to do as many reps as I can with my starting weight.

I’ve lost and gained some inches.

My weight is down -4.2# from 3/22/12.

I gained 1/2″ in my chest.

I lost 1″ in my waist.

My biceps each grew by 1/4″.

My left thigh is down 1/2″ and my right is down 1″.

My forearms are down 1/4″.

We’ll have to see what happens next!

The weekend is here!

Last night when I got up to use the facilities, I couldn’t remember what day today was going to be. Did I need to set my alarm? What was on my to do list? Then I remembered, it’s Saturday! No alarm necessary. I was up at 5am and decided on a 30 minute run on the treadmill. My legs are not very sore at all, but I am just a bit stiff. The run helped a bit as did the foam roller. I have to leave for Zumba in a few minutes. I’m hoping for a fun class today.

This afternoon I have a Weight Watchers meetings called Celebrations in the Dells. I’m carpooling with a co-worker that lives nearby. It will be nice to have someone to chat with on the ride over and to not walk in alone! I have a feeling there will be a lot of people at this meeting since it’s being held at a conference center in the Dells. Sadly, the menu is pizza AND salad. Thank goodness they added in the salad part, I did not want my entire meal to be just pizza.

Yesterday afternoon I watched (well, they slept) two kiddos for my friend so she could go out to lunch. I brought over a book and almost finished the entire thing while I was there. I did finish it up later in the day. It was Pampered to Death by Laura Levine. Easy read, funny mystery and you can never figure it out until the end. Love it!

Jillian Kicked My Butt!

Last night I worked at Weight Watchers. I brought the girls along since hubby now works until 4:30pm and won’t get home til 5:30pm. All in all it goes very well, although my boss was there so I did not let them help set-up, which they were disappointed about. I told them next week they can help all they want! LOL

I went to sleep last night, mentally planning my day today. It included a workout that is aimed at making me unable to walk tomorrow! First though, I warmed up for 5 minutes on the elliptical. I then did NROLFW Stage 1 B for 25 minutes. Then I decided to torture tackle Level 1 of this DVD.

 I love to hate Jillian! LOL She had a lot of moves on this DVD. I previewed the whole thing yesterday and don’t know if I’ll survive beyond the first workout.

Here’s what I remember we did…

  • A warm-up, jumping jacks, soldier march in place, plank lunges, side lunges
  • sumo squats, calf rises, hopping up and down
  • curtsy squats
  • mountain climbers
  • jump squat into some yoga pose (can’t recall the name)
  • single leg squat
  • front lunge, side lunge, back lunge combo
  • front kick back kick combo, balance on one leg
  • deadlifts
  • inner thigh raises
  • donkey kicks
  • cross over kicks
  • outer thigh raises
  • fire hydrants
  • and a ton more I can’t think of

According to my HRM in that 40 minute workout I burned 218 calories! That’s a lot for a workout DVD for me. I’m sure tomorrow’s workout will be quite painful. (I love it though!) At least I know I made a difference in my muscles. When there is no pain or very little I feel like I didn’t work hard enough.

Other things to do today…

  • Pay furnace bill
  • Put gas in the van
  • Return carpet samples
  • Deliver cheese from fundraiser to grandma
  • Library return & pickup
  • Watch kiddos at 11:15am for my friend so she can have ‘girl-time’ and a lunch date. (important!)
  • Learn some more things about my job, especially INVENTORY coming up.

Wacky dreams….

I’ve been plagued the past two nights with bizarre dreams. Last night was a tornado, my mom dying, an old co-worker and Ty Pennington! The night before I had a brain tumor, was going through chemo but couldn’t remember the day before because of the tumor! Nutso! I think it’s a clue to lay off the carbs and sugar before bed! LOL

Yesterday I worked my two Weight Watchers meetings. All was well and I still love the job. I work tonight too. I took this morning off from exercise again. I think Thursday’s may be my DOR. I’m just tired lately, maybe I need more iron, who knows….I’m just going with it. The scale said 150.4#, nice number to see.

Cauliflower or Broccoli? Broccoli, steamed or roasted!

Onion Rings or French Fries? Homemade of either one, onion rings are more time consuming so I eat fries more!

Blizzard or McFlurry? Blizzards! 

Fried or Poached Eggs? Fried.

Crepes or Pancakes? Pancakes

Hashbrowns or Roasted Potatoes? Roasted Potatoes

Oatmeal or Cereal? Oatmeal for breakfast, cereal for a snack.

Zits? Again?!

Well, I’ve been off the pill for over a month now and I’ve got some full fledged zits going on. Uggh…that better not be a common side effect from going off the pill. I’ll be 38 this year, way to old for zits. Moving on…

Yesterday I started reading a different book, The Inn At Lake Devine by Elinor Lipman. I’ve abandoned Emma for now, but I’ll get back to it sometime. I finished it all in about 3 hours of reading. Great book, fun read and a nice story line too. I’ve read other books by her, and I’m going to have to check out the rest of them.

My eating yesterday wasn’t great. I was snacky, craving carbs and didn’t track my food. I was afraid of the scale this morning, but knew I couldn’t ‘avoid’ it, that only makes it worse for me. It was an even 151#. Eh, I thought it would be worse, but I need to get back into the 140’s and towards my goal. It’ll happen.

This morning’s workout was the treadmill, a total of 45 minutes broken up into 15 minute increments. My calf still hurts after many months and my right quad was sore, weird. I’m also going to Zumba this morning at 9:30. We are having a new instructor and I’m hoping for a high energy class that I’ve grown used to.

After that I have to change into work clothes and stop at C’s school to drop off the Administrative Assistant’s Day cards we have from the Parent Club. Then it’s off to work, stopping at Walmart afterwards and home for a late lunch/snack before I leave again for work in Reedsburg. At least tonight I don’t have to stop at Aldi on the way home and should get home by 7:30 at the latest.

Good Sunny morning!

So far the sun is out and I’m happy that it’s going to be warmer today. Last night C had her Fine Arts Night at school and their play was adorable! I was also able to chat up a few moms that I haven’t seen in ages. One of them is going to walk the levee with me today after lunch. We haven’t seen each other in a long time and we need to just walk and catch up with life.

I was tired again this morning, but I knew I needed to do my strength training. (I hope TOM is making an arrival soon, that would explain the tiredness.) I warmed up on the elliptical and did the final formal workout of Stage 1 Workout A. I ended it all with ab work and stretching.

This morning is catching up on laundry, calling a mom about C attending a birthday party, updating my new sheets for weight lifting and mailing out my check for the Divine Savior 1 Mile Walk my family is going to participate in. After lunch I meet up with my friend on the levee and come home to read (and probably fall asleep again!).
