My life as a woman, wife and mother.

Positive Outlook

Okay, I’m scamming this from another blog…

Positive outlook

If a negative thought should happen to arise, you can let it get you down or you can let it go. Yes, you can simply choose to let it go.

Although negative thinking may indeed feel comfortable and familiar, eventually it leads to great pain. Let it go.

Perhaps you assume you have to be negative in order to be realistic. That’s not the case.

By all means, acknowledge and accept the reality of your situation. Then choose to deal with it in a positive, purposeful manner.

Your future is determined by the way you choose to approach it. Approach it with the best of expectations, and you’ll make your future the very best it can be.

Give yourself a positive outlook, moment after moment, day after day. And you’ll be giving yourself a positive, fulfilling life.

Thank you Ralph!

Yesterday was a pretty bad day food-wise for me. Too many carbs, too much salt and I’m paying for it today. The scale is up from 149 to 151.2# blerg! I can not get my ring on yet this morning. Like Ralph is saying, I can just choose to let it go and move on and that’s what I’m doing. 🙂

Moving on to today. I got in my workout this morning, 40 minutes on the treadmill and a bit of ab work. A great hearty breakfast and sipping on my cappuccino while I catch up on blogs.

Today I have a test for the United States Postal Service. I have to take it in Madison and since hubby isn’t working he’s taking me down there. I could find it on my own, but it’s nice to have someone along for the ride. The test consists of a few different parts.

Part one is comparing addresses to look for any errors.

Part two is finding the part that fills in the form correctly.

Part three is coding while looking at the code key.

Part four is coding WITHOUT looking at the code key. This is the part that will give me trouble.

All the sections are timed and have 30-60 questions per section. I know I can do well on the first 3 parts, no sweat. The 4th will pose more of a problem, but I’m going to focus and do my best. I have to get a 70 to pass and I won’t know my result until I get home and check my email which will take me to a link with the results. Beyond that I don’t know what the hiring/interview process will be like for this position. I’m hoping to find out more after I see my results.

Yesterday due to the snow we did not have Weight Watchers at noon. It’s the first time in almost a year that I haven’t worked on a Wednesday. It was very strange and probably while I felt like yesterday was Sunday! Tonight I work the 6pm meeting though and I think we’ll be busy since a lot of people missed yesterday. We also have to do inventory tonight which isn’t so bad, plus it keeps me moving around. 🙂

Speaking of moving around. I am in a new assessment phase for my ActiveLink. It started last weekend and should be done this Saturday. I have a feeling it will be pretty low since I haven’t attended Zumba yet during this assessment. I should be going tomorrow morning though and again on Saturday morning. I’m hoping next week I can go a little bit more than this week, BUT I’d also like to have a job! 😛

Alright, enough from me, enjoy the day!

Snow Day!

Good morning! I got in my workout this morning. 25 minutes on the elliptical and Level 1 of Ripped in 30. The scale said 149# and since Weight Watchers is canceled today I won’t be weighing in there. I am up from last week though, but still under the 150# so I’ll take it.

The girls are outside playing in the snow right now. It’s coming down pretty heavily and look so pretty! I love watching all the different birds at the feeder. I’ve seen…

  • nuthatches
  • juncos
  • house finch – male & female
  • downy woodpecker
  • hairy woodpecker
  • flicker
  • tufted titmouse
  • mourning dove
  • chickadees

Quite the variety of birds.

I’m not too sad to have a snow day today. I will miss having Zumba this afternoon, but I’ll survive. I’m hoping they plow the roads well so hubby and I can head to Madison tomorrow for my Postal Service test. By then I’m confident things will be good. I can’t reschedule without 24 hours notice, which means I’d have to reschedule before 1pm today. After that I HAVE to take it or forgo my chance to EVER take the test. They have some pretty strict rules when it comes to this exam.

Nothing else to say, enjoy your weather!

Busy day of rest!

Good afternoon! Well, let’s see. I took the morning off from exercise. I just felt like it. 😛 The scale was 149.2#, but I feel puffy, what gives?

This morning I applied for a job with the USPS. It’s in a nearby town. I completed the online assessment and I’m taking a test in Madison on Thursday afternoon. If I get over 80% combined between the two tests I’ll pass. I’m assuming after that they’ll decide who to interview for the position. I’m hopeful regardless.

Hubby is currently at a job interview in Madison. It’s for a masonry company and I’m hoping he comes home with good news. While it’s nice to have idle time in life, it also doesn’t make ANY money! 😛 I’m hoping we BOTH have jobs soon.

This morning we also ran a few errands together. We dropped off a lot of things at Goodwill and found some awesome deals on chicken! Now I just need to repackage the chicken into smaller portions and get it in the freezer, but that can wait a bit!

I’m trying a new recipe for homemade bread. This one used my food processor to combine the dough. It’s rising now and I’m thinking it’ll be a success.

My lunch today was a BBQ Chicken Pita Pizza with Smoked String Cheese. Delicious! Here’s a pic to drool over.

Cracker Thin Crust Pizza!

Good afternoon! My morning workout was a total of 47 minutes on the treadmill, walking. I also did some arm and ab work on my own. I watched Bones while I exercised, so I didn’t pop in a DVD today. I’m going to be borrowing a 5 DVD set from a co-worker later on this week, so I’ll review that when I use it. My weight today was 149.8#! Eap…I think sodium is the main culprit since I wasn’t on a binge-fest yesterday.

Today for lunch I tried out a new recipe I’ve been waiting to make. It’s from America’s Test Kitchen and it’s for St. Louis pizza. I think what makes it St. Louis is the sauce, which I didn’t use. I was in it for the cracker thin crust. It turned out better than I expected!

thin crust pizza

Here’s the recipe.

  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 T. cornstarch
  • 1 t. sugar
  • 1/2 t. baking powder
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1/4 c. + 1 T. water (I used a tad more)
  • 1 T. olive oil

The important part is to preheat your oven to 475 with a baking stone inside. You roll out the dough on a piece of parchment paper and then slide it onto the back of cookie sheet to transfer it into the oven. Ours baked for about 10 minutes, the recipe said 9-12 minutes.

The entire crust is 14 PointsPlus, my 1/4 ended up being 4 PointsPlus. I used 1 PP worth of cheese on my 1/4. I ate this along with a nice salad, it was pretty good!

It finally started to snow around here and we are supposed to get freezing rain and sleet at some point. I’m hoping we just get this nice large fluffy snow instead!

That’s it from me, enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

I walk like I’m gliding on water!

Good morning all! Yesterday was my last day at work. Bittersweet. While I was on my lunch break a lady from another department starting to talk to me. She had overheard me talking about working for Weight Watchers. She said she was surprised I was a member since she doesn’t remember me ever having a weight problem. Sweet, but so not true! LOL I told her I lost 35 pounds and became a lifetime member. She then talked about some friends and family members that are having success on the program. She also paid me a compliment by saying that I have such lovely posture and that when I walk through the building I look like I’m gliding on water. I thanked her and chuckled a bit. I think I’m just trying to look taller! LOL

My workout this morning was 30 minutes on the elliptical and I have an hour Zumba class coming up. After that it’s a couple of errands and then we are heading to Madison for the afternoon.

The scale at home was 148.2#, that’s 15 days in a row under 150! Throughout my weight loss I’ve had that OH SH!T number on the scale. It used to be 160, then down to 155, recently it’s been around 152. Officially I’ve lowered it to 150#. My current goal is to get to 145#, that’s only 3.2# away! I hope to keep chipping away at it each week at weigh-in.

Not much else to update on my end. No job prospects for hubby or myself, so we’ll just keep on keepin’ on!

Enjoy your day!

Gone all day!

Yesterday was so busy. I left the house at 7:30am and returned home about 7:30pm! I took a day of rest yesterday and the scale was up to 149.8# after my salty splurge on Wednesday night. This morning it was back down to 148.6# since I drank a bunch of water and got right back on program. My workout this morning was 40 minutes of running on the treadmill. My lower back was a tad sore, so I lowered the incline a bit and muscled through it. So far no more pain.

Today is my last day of work. I’m fairly certain anyway. My friend should be back to work on Monday, so they won’t be needing me anymore. Sad, considering the job prospects are pretty bad right now.

Weight Watchers was pretty busy last night and we had a lively crowd. Even some returning members who admitted they couldn’t do it on their own.

Not much else to report on my end. I need to get ready for my work day! Enjoy your day!

Happy Hump Day!

Good morning! I’m feeling extra perky this morning, even though my back is out again! It’s not as awful as before, but I’m still calling the chiropractor today.

My morning workout was No More Trouble Zones. I decided to select whatever circuit I wanted to do, so I did them out of order instead of how they normally run. I’m going to Zumba at 9am and then I have a bunch of things to do during the day. The home scale was at 148.4#, so who knows what weigh in will be. I’m hoping around what last week’s was.

Nothing else is happening in my world. Same old same old.

Enjoy YOUR day!

Good afternoon!

Obviously I didn’t have time to post this morning. 🙂

My workout was 25 minutes on the treadmill trying out my new Asics. Here’s a pic.

They were on sale at Kohl’s for around $75, down from $104. I tested them out and no rubbing on the toes or slipping on the heals. I did try on other brands of running shoes, but just walking around the aisle I could feel them slip on the heel. We all know that leads to blisters!

I went in to work from 8am-Noon today. I wanted to leave me some work to tackle on Thursday when I get in. I’ll probably be done early then too, but Friday may be a 4pm day. Nick is pretty busy with pages so I’ll need to do some ad work for him.

I’m letting my lunch settle a bit longer and then I’m going to walk on the treadmill for a bit. I keep thinking “Oh, I should walk after supper.” Of course, I forget pretty quickly and then it doesn’t get done. I figured since I’m home early I might as well get it done before the girls get home.

Tomorrow is a morning workout, Zumba at 9am, work Weight Watchers and then lunch out with my co-workers. I told hubby I’d be leaving around 8:30am and he won’t see me until 2:30 or so. Not that he minds much I suppose.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

It’s a chilly one today! My van is warming up for my 15 minute drive into work at the paper.

Last night I got to bed around 9pm instead of 11pm! It was nice to get a bit more sleep. I got in 20 minutes on the elliptical and 30 minutes on the treadmill. I know I’ll be sitting around a lot today so I wanted to move a bunch this morning. The scale was up 1# to 149.2#, still pretty good. As long as it’s under 150# I’m okay with it. I ate a bit more yesterday, one homemade cookie, a slice of homemade bread with chili at supper and a bit of cereal at night. Water will be my friend today. 🙂

Since I am working in the Dells tonight for Weight Watchers I’m going to head to Kohl’s to check out shoes. I could really use some new running shoes, AGAIN! The last pair I bought did not last long, the support is already out of them and I just wear them to Zumba. I’m hoping they have someone on sale and instock.

My lunch & snacks are packed as is my supper for tonight since I’ll be on the road at supper time. It’s a whole day of eating out of a cooler. Oh well, tomorrow I’ll get to eat supper at home. 🙂

No other news to report. Enjoy your day.

Eating heaven….

I reread this book yesterday. Yep, I finished it at 11pm last night! Wow, a late night for me for sure. The author is Jennie Shortridge and it’s a great read, obviously. That’s why I could not put it down last night. I think read it over 2 years ago since I can’t find it in my lists of books from 2011 or 2012.

So, staying up last meant I should sleep in right? Well, I was up at 5:20am. An hour later than normal. Whatever. I decided to take it easy on myself and just do my own thing with arms, abs & legs. No cardio warmup just getting down to business for 25 minutes. The scale was at 148.2#, that’s 3 days of the 148’s. 🙂 I’m hoping for a loss this week at weigh-in.

What’s on the agenda for today? Well, not too much, just minor things…

  • Prep salads
  • Bake bread
  • Make jello w/fruit
  • Bake some cookies to take to work and to eat
  • Get chili going in the crockpot soon

I also have to get myself organized for Monday morning since I’ll be going to work.

  • Monday – exercise at home, work at the paper, work at Weight Watchers, stop at Kohl’s for shoes
  • Tuesday – exercise at home, work a bit at the paper
  • Wednesday – exercise at home, Zumba, work Weight Watchers, lunch out with co-workers
  • Thursday – exercise at home or day-of-rest, work a bit at the paper, work Weight Watchers
  • Friday – exercise at home, work at the paper, Zumba? (I’m going to say I need to leave at 3:15 so I can catch Zumba at 3:45pm! 🙂
  • Saturday – exercise at home, Zumba!

That’s what I have going on. I’m thankful for the extra money, that’s for sure.

Enjoy your chilly Sunday!

P.S. The melty bead bowls were a flop! It filled the house with noxious fumes and stuck to my bowls so I had to scrub like a maniac to get the plastic off! ugg…
