Sleeping in!

Sleeping in this morning felt wonderful, except for my sore muscles! LOL Last night we watched Diary of Anne Frank on DVD. It was interesting to see the movie version and it was of course very accurate to her true diary. I ended up staying up til past 10pm reading and thank goodness I slept until 6:10am! Awesome! I was super sore from the day at the gym on Friday though and it took a while for me to warm up to do some back squats downstairs. I got in 5×5 sets of those and then some easy walking.

C and I went to the movie this morning with her friend Jana. It was Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. I liked the movie a lot, I was laughing out loud, cringing, etc. The whole theater was in on it. 🙂 We dropped off Jana and headed to Walmart. I did some meal planning this morning and needed ingredients for suppers.

Both girls are leaving soon to go roller skating with L’s friends for the afternoon. I should get on that treadmill again and walk, or even venture outside. I suppose I should go outside since we are supposed to get snow tonight and low temperatures are going to be returning soon! Yuck to that.

Partner WOD!

Teams of 2
10 Rounds Total – 5 Rounds Each:
10 Handstand Pushups
10 Deadlifts, 205/135 – 135#
10 Thrusters, 95/65 – 55#
10 Toes to Bar

Notes: Partners complete full rounds before alternating. Scale loads as needed. If you need more than 2 abmats to complete the HSPU, scale to a 30 sec hand stand hold instead. 30 min cut-off.

Awesome workout, I’ll be feeling it later for sure! Since it was the last workout in our gym Mary took a bunch of photos today. Saturday we move into our new location. Today hubby and I are dropping off the cubbies he built. I can’t wait for a sneak peak since I can’t help move in tomorrow.

Plans for today…

  • Walk and watch Hell’s Kitchen, I have 2 seasons left out of 11 on DVD

Tomorrow I work out at home and take C to the movies. It’s a canned good movie that neither of us have seen yet.

Day 2 – no gym!

Happy Thursday! I was down .4# at weigh-in, that’s in 2 weeks! Ugg…..so slow. I’m now officially 10# OVER goal. Grr…

This morning I walked and ran on the treadmill for 30 minutes. I probably won’t walk this afternoon since hubby and I are going to look at frames for eyeglasses before we pick up C from Art Club.

Never fear, I will be back at the gym tomorrow!

No gym today.

Happy Hump Day!

My body is beat down, so I took the hint and did not go to the gym today. I did walk for 15 minutes and then I had a conference call for WW and I walked another 30. I did a bunch of stretching and foam rolling on the call too. I’m hoping things will feel better tomorrow.

I leave in a bit to pick up my prescription and then work WW. I’m sure weigh-in will be a disaster. It’s not like I dropped 10# in two weeks and got back to goal! LOL

Yowza!

Monday was good. I worked until 1pm, came home ate lunch and prepped supper a bit since I was getting L from school to go shopping. She found 2 pair of jeans and 1 pair of leggings. I found a bra and a long sleeve shirt to wear under sweaters. I threw out my purple one that I had for way too long so I needed to replace that one. We also picked up a few other items that we needed. We got home around 4:30pm and I started working on supper.

A while back I saw a recipe for cauliflower crust pizza. I wanted to give it a shot, so after lunch I chopped up all the cauliflower in the food processer and steamed it in the microwave. When we got home my house stunk like crazy! Wow! Here’s what my individual pizza looked like.

  • 2# of cauliflower (steamed after chopping)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 t. salt
  •  1/4 c. parmesan
  • 1 t. Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 t. garlic powder
  • If I made it again I would use 2 eggs and some mozzarella cheese in the crust to hold it together a bit better. It gets baked on a parchment paper (no pan) for 10 minutes at 420. Then add toppings and bake for another 10-15 minutes. We all liked it, but I prefer my homemade pizza crust.

Today was another morning I wasn’t feeling 100% at the gym. Maybe it’s time for a rest day. Who knows.

Tuesday’s WOD:
A) Clean Pull: Build to 120% of 1RM clean in 8min – I went from 85#-135#
B) Clean: 10min to build to a heavy single – I got from 35#-105# and failed on 115# (my PR)

Notes: The clean pull must be done with PERFECT clean technique and positions; it’s not just a pull. Build to AHAP with perfect technique, which should be around 120% of your best clean.

C) :30 ME AD, followed by 1 min rest, x5 sets – this sucked beyond belief! After about 20 seconds I was looking steam.

D) 8min AMRAP:
10 Wall Balls, 20/14lb
2 sprints to opposite wall and back

Notes: Complete 10 WB as fast as possible. Then immediately sprint to the rack and back to the wall 2 times.

I didn’t keep track of rounds on this one, but I’d guess at 8 or more. Awful!

I’m going to walk and watch Hell’s Kitchen soon, mostly to limber up my legs and hips and buttocks! I work 1-5 and L has piano tonight. Hubby’s off work today so maybe he’ll take her instead of me. If I take her I need to stop at Walgreens to pick up my pills.

Yesterday was a bust food-wise. I decided not to dwell on it an move on. 😛

A. Press: (Wave Load) 3-2-1, 3-2-1, 3-2-1, 1:30 clock

60#, 65#, 70#      65#, 70#, 75#      65#, 70#, 75# (fail)

Notes: The final single should match (or be heavier than) your heaviest rep from testing week. All sets should be over 80%. Example: 80%-85%-90%, 85%-90%-95%, 90%-95%-100%. Each rep should be from a dead start (no bouncing off your chest). Sets should be unbroken, but do not have to be.

B) 3 rounds for reps @90% effort:
2:00 row for cals, :30 rest
2:00 AMRAP Curtis P, 95/65# (1 PC + 1 lunge L + 1 lunge R + 1 thruster = 1 rep), :30 rest  (55#)
2:00 AMRAP pull-ups, :30 rest

Notes: 90% effort means you should be able to sustain your work output for the entire workout.

This workout was tough! I got 28, 27, 26 on the pull-ups, 26, 26, 25 on the rowing and only 6 Curtis P’s each round. I hate front rack lunges! I suck at them.

After a mini-meltdown this morning from L it was decided we need to jean shopping after school. I work until 1pm so I’ll get her from school and we’ll head to Walmart, our only option for shopping in this town. That means I may not get my walk in this afternoon and might have to move it to after supper. I’ll also have to prep a bit of supper before I get her so we aren’t eating too late tonight.

Stretch it out!

Well, I was wide awake at 3am but thought that was a ridiculous time to get up. I managed to fall back asleep until 4:13am! During that time I had a horrifying dream of constantly stepping on a scale and seeing 165#, 265#, 190# and several other random numbers. I couldn’t believe I gained 100# and I was pissed! I’m sure this is all stemming from me having put on weight and some of my clothes just don’t fit the same any more. It’s also the stress of weighing in at WW and not being at goal in FOREVER! Uggg….

So, on to today and my choices. Typically Sunday is a DOR, but I did 10 min. on the elliptical and 15 on the treadmill walking. I then did some stretching. My hips (specifically my right hip) is pretty tight from all that stretching and squatting yesterday. I did a few of the stretches Ben taught us and now I have a heated pad on it, hoping to loosen it up a bit more.

I’m sitting here with my retainer in. Sadly it doesn’t fit as perfectly as it should since I’ve neglected to wear it for years not and obviously my teeth have shifted a bit. I figure I should get them in line better if I have a shot at working for the orthodontist! LOL

L has to be do school today at 11:15 and after that I’m buzzing out to get C from her friend’s house. This afternoon I need to bake bread and I have laundry going now. In fact, I just heard the washing machine end so now I need to wait for the dryer to be done.

My upcoming week…

  • Monday – gym, work 8:45-1, walk at home on treadmill
  • Tuesday – gym, walk at home, work 1-5, L has piano
  • Wednesday – gym, take L to school early for meeting, walk, work WW and weigh-in, walk?, pick up C from school and take her to art lesson, work 5-8:30

Turkey-Quinoa Cupcakes

Muffin cups of turkey and quinoa meatloafy goodness. Adapted from Dinners, Dishes and Desserts.

 1 pound ground turkey (I used 20 oz. extra lean)

3/4 cup cooked quinoa

1/2 cup rolled oats

1 green onion, chopped

1 egg

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (1 T. dry)

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon salt

pinch black pepper

pinch garlic powder

red pinch pepper flakes

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Muir Glen pizza sauce, for dipping (optional)

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin and set aside.
  • 2 In a large bowl, combine turkey, quinoa, rolled oats, green onion, egg, parsley, cumin, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, garlic powder and red pepper flakes. Stir until thoroughly combined.
  • 3 Scoop filling evenly into the bottom of prepared muffin cups. Bake 30 minutes or until meatloaves are baked through; remove from oven and sprinkle tops with cheese.
  • 4 Heat broiler; return muffin tin to oven and broil cheese until bubbly and melted, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from oven; cool 1-2 minutes before removing meatloaves from tin. Serve with pizza or marinara sauce on the side, if desired.

Overall a good recipe. L didn’t like it because she could ‘taste the quinoa”. 😛 It was a tad dry due to the lean turkey.

2 hours at the gym!

Happy Saturday! I got over 8 hours of sleep last night and it was great! Thankfully someone asked for gym hours to be at 7am this morning and one of the trainers obliged by showing up. I’m glad she did because she forced me to do the entire workout! LOL

Thursday’s WOD:
A) Hang Snatch (mid-thigh): 5×2, 85% 1RM Snatch, 1:15 clock – I did 60# for all of them
B) Pause snatch: pause for 2sec just above the knee, 8×1, 1min clock – again 60#
C) Deadlift: 10min to build to a tough single – I got to 160# for one rep

D) 5 Rounds, each on a 2min clock:
8 Deadlifts, 115/75
5 OHS, 115/75
3 Hang Power Snatch, 115/75

So I intended to do workout D at the 60#, but during the first round my arms were shot so I went to 55# and was able to finish.

After my regular workout I stayed for a squat mobility clinic. We did a ton of hip stretches, ankle stretches and back stretches. I had to quick write everything down so I don’t forget them all. They were all awesome stretches and I could really feel how they loosened up my hips. I came home and shared them with hubby since he was just done working out.

So, on to today. I’m cleaned up and we are eating an early lunch today since the girls want to go to JoAnn’s Fabrics in the Dells. We are timing it so that when we leave there we can drop C at her friend’s house on the way back. She doesn’t need to be there until 1pm. We didn’t necessarily want to go out to eat, so instead we’ll eat early and head out.

Tomorrow L need to be to school at 11:15 so when I drop her off I’ll go and pick up C from her friend’s house.

I’m trying a new recipe for supper tonight, it’s turkey and quinoa mini meatloaves. Only 2 PP each so I’ll have 2 along with a salad.

Tomorrow I need to bake bread and meal plan for the upcoming week.

So, what was my good news? Well, I applied for a job on Wednesday online. About 10 minutes after I hit apply the phone rang and it was Maggie asking me to come in and fill out an application and take two tests they administer. The job is at the orthodontist in town and it’s for a Lab Coordinator/Orthodontic Assistant. Mostly it would be making retainers and some work on patients teeth! Exciting for me to learn all about braces! I’ve had braces as an adult and our 10 year old has them now. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this orthodontist and all his staff, they are terrific and it would be great to work there. It’s full-time between the 3 offices they have in neighboring towns. She said the next step would be the interview process and that is where I would come in for a while and observe the actual job, have lunch with them, etc. I guess that all depends on how I do on the tests! LOL One was a personality test. The other was math and basic language skills. I by no means even have the job, but I’m confident I’ll get called in for an interview. *fingers crossed*

Exciting News!!!

TGIF! For real, I’m happy it’s Friday. Even though I work 8:45-1 today for a coworker I’m all over it being the end of the week. L is pretty much back to normal besides her watery eyes. C is going to a sleepover on Saturday, L is going to Blue Man Group on Sunday and I’m hoping to get to the gym tomorrow to make up Thursday’s workout.

Today’s workout was another partner workout. I choose Jennifer again, which I think she regrets! LOL She said, “I was avoiding getting Angie!”. 😛

Will she last?

Good morning. Yesterday the clinic confirmed that L has the flu. Influenza A to be exact. I asked about when she’d be able to go to school and the Dr. said that as long as she was fever free for 24 hours she could go, depending on how she feels. Well, no fever yesterday so she was determined to go to school today. We’ll see if she lasts or not. I told her if she makes it all day that she can’t go to Art Club after school, she just needs to ride the bus home and get schoolwork done that she’s missed.

Today is a DOR for me, but I may or may not walk slowly on the treadmill after work. Yesterday I got in a lot of activity, but didn’t get much walking done at work. I had a lot of typing projects to do and I was pretty stationary for my shift. I’m hoping to move around a bit more today.

I have something exciting happening on Friday afternoon, but I don’t want to jinx it just yet!
