My life as a woman, wife and mother.

Three Strikes – YER OUT!

on January 16, 2015

Happy Friday! Well, I had a bit of excitement at work yesterday. First of all a quick back story. We have a new Children’s Library built 2 summers ago. Since then the sprinkler system has had a problem. The pump runs every so often and it’s loud and it’s not supposed to run AT ALL. Anyway, my boss came in at 12pm for her shift and around 12:35 or so the pump room was making a grinding noise. She paged our maintenance man to get down to our end of the library. Shortly after that the pump started running and then all hell broke loose! Water started pouring out of the pipe on the outside of the building AND from the eaves above the doorway! It was like Niagara Falls outside our door. Joe got down there a few seconds after it happened, he opened the locked door and started to turn valves. Sadly, nothing stopped the water from flowing and at this point the fire alarms are beeping and lights are flickering and some people evacuated the library. The head maintenance man for the city showed up and shortly after the Fire Chief came. My shift ended at 1pm and the water was still flowing. I did email my boss this morning and it did eventually stop and there is a lot of paperwork to figure out today. The man from the company that installed it was there for a few hours working on the issue. Thank goodness yesterday was a warmer day and I’m hoping it wasn’t a skating rink outside the doors.

I stayed up to late reading last night and this morning I finished up reading “It Was Me All Along” by Andie Mitchell. I found out about this book because I read her blog, “Can You Stay For Dinner?” She’s a wonderful writer and I can so relate to her issues in life. Good read for sure.

I did get up before my alarm this morning and was ready for the workout!

Friday’s WOD:
Partner WOD!!
“Three Strikes”

For total time in teams of 2:
30 – 20 – 10
Deadlifts, 225/155 or 185/125 or 135/85 – I did 125#

30 – 20 – 10
Power Snatch, 95/65 – 55#
Lateral Barbell Burpees

30 – 20 – 10
Thruster, 95/65 – 55#
250m Row (each, one after the other)

Notes: 25 min cut-off. One person can work at a time. The work listed is what must be accomplished as a team, not individually. There are essentially three phases (strikes) to this workout but you will proceed from one directly into the next with no prescribed rest. In the last phase, both teammates row the 250m back to back and you can’t start the next set of thrusters until both teammates are finished with their row.

We worked out in a trio due to odd numbers. So two of us worked out together and then the third person went. We finished in 27:15, we just had to finish up the final row, but we tried to finish in the 25 minutes.

On my agenda for today….

  • walk and watch Hell’s Kitchen
  • shop
  • relax and read
  • EAT BETTER!!!!! 😛
