Better day

Monday ended up being a pretty decent day. I got in my activity and my food was pretty good too. For the second morning in a row the cat has woken me up at 3:30am! I don’t need to be up until 4:10 so I was a bit pissed. I ended up chasing her with the spray bottle this morning and I was able to fall back to sleep for a bit. Then of course I hit snooze and was running behind. Ugg…

Tuesday’s WOD:
A) Clean DL: Build to 130% of your 1RM clean in 8min – made it to 150#, 130% of my 1RM
B) FS: Build to 120%-130% of your 1RM clean in 8 min – failed at 135# twice
C) Clean practice: 5×1 at 90%-100% of your 1RM clean. – 85#(1), 105#(4) – my 90%

D) 3 Rounds:
2 min max cal AD
rest 3 min   41, 41, 38 – this is soooo hard! My lungs are on fire after 2 minutes!

Notes: With 3 min rest b/w sets on the AD, the goal should be to repeat your effort each time. If you’ve done several workouts on the AD and you’re familiar with your abilities on it, then you should know how hard you can go and sustain the effort. Don’t slack off on the first set so as to save yourself for the next two. Start strong, finish strong.

Still no phone call about the job. I guess it’s back to looking…..

I made bread yesterday and I thought I had killed the yeast with too hot of water because it just would NOT rise. So I just stuck it in the oven and resigned myself to a short loaf. Lo and behold when I pulled it out it was HUGE! It double in size and the kids thought it was awesome! They had sandwiches today with it and only needed one slice cut in half. Sometimes even things that we think are a failure turn into a blessing. 🙂

So, yeah, my eating was eh yesterday. Moving on, live and learn, etc. 😛

A) Press: 8min to build to a tough single – 75#, same as last week
B) EMOMx6: 1 rep at A -10lb. 65#, same as last week

Notes: If you were here last Monday and you got at least 5 of the 6 reps for B, then go up 5lbs. If you missed more than 1 rep stick with the weight you used last week and try to get all 6 reps.

C) 1000M row buy-in, then…
For time:
100 DU’s (sub 300 single unders) – singles
20 abmat sit ups
50 KB Swings (American if competing in the Open), 50/35# – 35#
20 abmat sit ups
25 thrusters, 95/65 – 60#
20 abmat sit ups

Notes: 20min cut-off. Record times to comments. I finished in 13:32

I forgot to make crockpot oats yesterday for the girls. So I’ve started it now and when I get home from work today is should be close to being done. I also have to bake bread this afternoon since I was LAZY yesterday. I didn’t even get 5,000 steps in. I haven’t taken an entire day off since 1/18 so I don’t feel to bad about it.

Sunny Sunday!

Happy Sunday!

I’ll admit, I got a little food crazy yesterday, but today is back on track. 🙂 So far I haven’t formally exercised and I don’t know if I will or not. At most I would walk & watch TV. I was up early today and already went to Walmart, washed dishes, made peanut butter and have food in the crockpot. I need to bake bread today and make homemade granola bars. I should also check out the laundry situation.

My upcoming week is pretty much the same as usual….

  • Monday – gym, work 8:45-1, walk & watch TV, enchilada casserole for dinner
  • Tuesday – gym, walk & watch TV, work 1-5, ? for supper
  • Wednesday – gym, walk & watch TV, work WW and weigh-in, walk?, work 5-8:30
  • Thursday – DOR, work 8:45-1, work WW, L has art club
  • Friday – gym, walk & watch TV, early release from school, conferences for C
  • Saturday – gym?, lunch in Tomah with the girlfriends!

Gym, Taxes & Lunch!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Yesterday I asked around if a coach was going to be at the gym early and Tracy was going to be, score! I went in and sorta did Thursday’s workout. I did Snatch DL and got to 125# on that. Then I did some High Hang Snatch and got to 65#. Then I decided not to do the AMRAP and did Overhead Squats and I got to 80# on that. No PR’s today, but lots of reps. 46+ reps is plenty! I ended with some ab work.

I came home to eat breakfast and clean up and then hubby and I went to get our taxes worked out with our CPA. We then headed to Kohl’s and I scored some new Asics on clearance. Then we busted it over to the Dollar Tree. It is soooo cold and windy here today and it was pointless to do my hair! LOL Finally it was time for lunch. Last year hubby and I tried to go to High Rock Café, but it was a Friday night and they do NOT take reservations. It was a 2 hour wait, so we headed somewhere else. This year we went at lunch time and did not have to wait. 🙂 When we were done eating we headed over to an antique store that I used to go to when we lived in the Dells. When we got back to town we stopped in at a newer restaurant so I could pick up a dessert. Sadly (but probably for the best) they had nothing decadent so I go a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie and hubby and I split it in the truck! LOL

L is over at her friend’s house and hubby is binge watching Downton Abbey. I walked on the treadmill to get some steps in and I’m taking it easy the rest of the day.

Fabulous Friday!

Happy Friday! C’s cold has gone from the sore throat and fever to severely chapped lips and runny nose! Poor kid. She was sent to school with chapstick, water and tissues. I hope she turns the corner soon.

Partner WOD!

Teams of 2:
20min AMRAP
10 Push Presses, 115/75 or 95/65 or 75/55 (choose one) – I did 65#
10 KB Swings, 50/35 (American swings if competing in the Open) – 35# KB
10 Box Jumps (see notes) – 12″ box with a 45# weight on top

Notes: Partners complete full rounds before switching. One working, one resting at all times.

If you’re planning on competing in the Open, use today’s WOD to practice different ways/techniques of getting up and down off the box. Jump up/step down, step up/jump down, step up/step down, will likely be the most common. Determine for yourself which method is the fastest but also which one taxes you the least if you had to do a lot of these. This is practice time.

We didn’t do well keeping track of rounds, but I think we were on 6 when the 20 minutes were up. I’m going to walk at least once today, if not twice. I still haven’t heard about the job. I truly hope they call today so I can know either way what is going on.

Good morning! Yesterday at weigh-in I lost 1.2#, that’s 3 weeks in a row! 2.6# in 3 weeks, I’m hoping to make it 4 weeks in a row. 7.8# from goal ( or 5.8# from being in range). Doable.

Last night at work was quiet. I had a lot of punching out of die cuts to do and I got a ton done. I work this morning too and I’m going to finish it up. I may or may not walk this afternoon on the treadmill. Having a pedometer on my Fitbit motivates me to keep moving and NOT have an entire day of sloth. 🙂

I’m working tonight at WW for Chris, she requested this week off and since I didn’t work M or T at the library I figure I can make up some of my missed income by working tonight. Hubby is off due to the cold so he can pick up the girls from Art Club.

Still no word on the job. I’m not very hopeful anymore. 😛

PR Wednesday!

Recap yesterday….I went to the gym, walked & watched Hell’s Kitchen, hung out with C, walked & watched Hell’s Kitchen and basically stayed on track with food and exercise. I finished reading my book and didn’t fall asleep this time! LOL I got to bed early and was ready to go today. This week hasn’t left my body in shambles like last week.

Wednesday’s WOD:
A) Back Squat: 10×1, build to AHAP, 1:15clock – 135#, new PR!
B) Deadlift: 10×1, build to AHAP, 1:30 clock – got to 170#, it felt heavy enough!

Notes: Add weight each set, thereby ending with the heaviest load of the day.

C) 7min AMRAP:
Power Clean and Jerk, 135/95 – I did 75#
Toes To Bar
3ea, 6ea, 9ea…   – I got to 12 C&J and 6 of 12 T2B

I’m going to walk & watch TV soon and then get cleaned up. I have some shopping to do before Weight Watchers today. I’ll weigh-in and again, who knows what the scale will say. I don’t have TOM and my muscles aren’t sore, but it’s a crap shoot. I then work tonight 5-8:30 and since I get to bed later than normal tomorrow is a DOR.

PR Tuesday!

So last week I had a new PR on my front squat, 120#, today 130#!!!! It was tough, but I powered through it.

Tuesday’s WOD:
A) Clean DL: Build to 130% of your 1RM clean in 8 min – got to 150#
B) Front Squat: 8 min to build to 120% of your 1RM clean – got to 130# NEW PR!
C) Clean practice: 5×1 (5 sets of 1 rep) @90%-95%, 1:30 clock. – did 100# for all

Notes: Following the proper bar path is the priority on the clean deadlifts. You should be able to build heavier than you have in previous weeks.

D) 4 rounds of 500M Row, 1:30 rest in between rounds  2:03, 2:03, 2:05, 2:06

Last night L had piano so I stopped into the library to pick up some books since I didn’t work yesterday and I won’t be working today. C’s fever reached as high as 103 yesterday and was all over the board. So far this morning it’s normal and she’s hoarse sounding with a mild sore throat. We are hoping she’ll be up to going to school tomorrow.

Yesterday I walked on the treadmill in the morning and scrapped it for the afternoon. I was just tired out and ended up falling asleep on the couch for a few minutes when I was reading my book. I did manage to bake some bread though. 🙂

What am I up to today? Well, I already went to the gym and Kwik Trip. I’m going to walk & watch soon, shower up and who knows? I don’t really have any chores that are a priority, sure I could clean my house, but why? LOL I will read some more today since I’m almost finished with my book. I know I’ve read this book before, but it had to be over 4 years ago since I can’t find it on my lists from the last few years.

Sick kid!

Well, C came down with the sickness yesterday. I’m not calling it the flu, but it’s a super sore throat and fever all over the place. So far this morning her throat is really sore, but we haven’t taken her temp yet. Poor kid.

Back to the gym this morning. Thank goodness I did NOT tweak my neck today on presses! 🙂

Monday’s WOD:
A) Press: 8 min to build to a tough single – 75#

B) Press: EMOM x6: 1 press at A-10lb – 65#

C) Bent over row: 5×8 (5 set of 8 reps), 1:30 clock; Build to AHAP – went from 50#-65# and the last few reps were tough!

D) 5 rounds for time:
15 WB – used 10# since we were low on 14#
3 wall walks – hard move for me and I don’t get them all the way to the wall
10 box jump-overs, 24″/20″ – I did a 12″ box with a 45# weight on top, so about 16″ or so   10:57

I’m home today with a sick kid. I’m going to walk & watch season 11 of Hell’s Kitchen today. I did start it yesterday afternoon. Beef vegetable barley stew will be in the crockpot and L has piano. I think I’ll bake bread today too since I didn’t do it yesterday.

Prep day!

Happy Sunday! Yesterday after work C and I went for a walk. Then the girls played outside and built snowmen. They are awesome and I need to get picks of them before they disappear.

This morning I walked on the treadmill for 51 minutes watching 2 episodes of Hell’s Kitchen. I have one left to find out the winner of this season. I think I’ll walk and watch it this afternoon.

Today I need to make bread and the girls are going to help prep beef barley stew and tuna noodle casserole. That should get us through the beginning of the week and I’ll have to figure out something for Thursday and Friday.

My upcoming week….

  • Monday – gym, work 8:45-3, beef barley stew for supper, piano for L
  • Tuesday – gym, walk & watch, work 1-5, tuna casserole for supper
  • Wednesday – gym?, honor roll breakfast as school?, work WW and weigh-in, work 5-8:30
